25.01.2022 Feeling so honored to be recognized as a Leading Brisbane Family Lawyer in the Doyles Guide in such great company, for our firm to be named one of only three first tier family law firms and for several of our team to also receive individual recognitions. So proud that the great depth of the Phillips Family Law team has been recognized again for 2018. #pflteam #leadingfamilylawyers #doylesguide

24.01.2022 I am very excited to be elected as President of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland at the AGM last night. It is such a wonderful honour to represent family law professionals across Queensland and I look forward to continuing the leadership in family law profession and continuing the excellent work FLPA does. Thank you to all of you that took the time out to vote. So as part of my first official duties, I am off to sunny Townsville today to host The FLPA Modern Family Lawyer workshop tomorrow. I hope you have a lovely weekend too!

24.01.2022 A very generous and unexpected gift from a lovely client of mine to thank my team and I arrived this afternoon. This lovely gesture cheered my spirits to end the week and chocolates have already been enjoyed. I feel thankful to work with some truly lovely people who are so appreciative of our care and guidance. Happy weekend!

23.01.2022 So proud that FLS has incorporated a session on lawyer self care and mindfulness, a topic I am so passionate about, into this year's conference program. Associate professor Craig Hassad of Monash University spoke to hundreds of my family law colleagues on avoiding burnout, the distractions of the modern work environment and applying mindfulness in our workplaces to benefit ourselves and our clients. A call to us all to do things differently and close in the gap between what many of us know is good for us and what we do day to day so we can be of help to others.

23.01.2022 Happy Sunday. What a glorious long weekend it is here in Brisbane, beautiful weather, an extra day off - so much to be positive about. A message which resonated with me recently was that you can make a choice about how you approach life. When faced with challenges you can either let them get on top of you or you can work through it, let it go, get on with life and learn from the experience. So this week on the blog I thought I would share what I have learned about the power of positivity in the work I do and share my five tips to embrace positivity during a divorce or any life challenge. I hope these tips will help to bring you remember the power of positivity and take steps to embrace it when you are next faced with a challenge.

22.01.2022 Voting papers for the FLPA elections are out today - please take time out to cast your vote!

19.01.2022 A fantastic session with Professor Richard Chisholm and Chief Justices of the Family Law Courts both past and present sharing their remarkable insights into the family law system over the past 40 years to conclude the FLS National Conference in Melbourne. It has been a great line up over the past few days. I am honored to be on the organising committee for the next FLS National Conference to be held in Brisbane in 2018 - we have a tough act to follow but can't wait to make it even bigger and better in Brisbane!

17.01.2022 Proud that Phillips Family Law team is supporting an important cause - the White Ribbon Day Breakfast for the Legal Profession to raise funds for Women's Legal Service. Over 770 people here this morning to listen to Tara Moss speak out about violence against women and how to change societal attitudes.

16.01.2022 This week I met two remarkable women who had both gone through particularly difficult circumstances leading to their very recent separations. It was a privilege to advise, care and guide each of them and let them know I would assist them each step of the way to a resolution in a way that worked for them - amicably. I was fortunate that both also expressed their gratitude about having been heard and know they had someone in their corner - so satisfying. This is what I absolut...ely love about the work I do - being able to embrace empathy, actively listen and help people solve problems in a way that meets their goals. So when this clip popped up in my feed today I thought it ought be shared. It is a favorite of mine, from author Dr Brene Brown, and encapsulates empathy perfectly. It is such an essential skill to all relationships - personal or professional. #empathy #separation #divorce #amicabledivorce #dignifieddivorce See more

16.01.2022 Gorgeous blooms I received from the loveliest of clients today as a thank you after a great result at Court last week. She has had such grace and dignity in the most difficult of circumstances. It made my Monday! Always lovely when going doing the work I do and my help is so appreciated. Now I am going to look for an opportunity to pay it forward and make someone else's day. #gratitude #thankyou #kindness

09.01.2022 An inspiring address this morning by Ita Buttrose, reflecting on about women living in the 70's, a time when the Family Law Act was introduced and completely changed the legal and social landscape for Australian families. It was fascinating to hear Ita's insights into women's issues and of her own family's experience of the family law system. #flsnatconf #familylaw

06.01.2022 An important article about the health and wellness of lawyers and the need for preventative measures as part of workplace culture, rather than merely addressing the issues after the damage is done. Our health and wellness committee at Phillips Family Law recognizes this and is constantly exploring innovative ways to create a happy and healthy workplace - one that our staff enjoy coming to work. Lots of exciting new initiatives ahead in 2017! Would love to hear from you all what initiatives staff think would make a difference to you?
