17.01.2022 Hard work, and necessary.

12.01.2022 TRIGGER WARNING : Fiona gets a bit emotional about rape victim experience. So, its another fun day (that was sarcasm) in Australian politics today. I've heard that a member of the Prime Minister's Cabinet will speak to allegations of rape today and will deny those allegations. The alleged victim is dead, having taken her own life (so I've heard). The case she was putting together with a view to legal action will go nowhere, because she is dead. 05.01.2022 There has been some appalling blaming and shaming of sexual abuse survivors in the news media over the last week or two. In one instance, a woman who made an allegation of rape and who later committed suicide had her claim of rape discredited by certain journalists on the basis that she had a mental illness, the implication being that her mental illness made her a less credible witness. 04.01.2022 Dear folks, I am on leave until Tuesday April 6th, so I won’t be responding to messages. Please take good care of yourselves over the Easter break. I’ll be trying to re-kindle some forgotten helpful behaviour patterns. Pre-Covid patterns, like going for hikes, hanging out with friends, reading books, and pre-work patterns, like drawing, sewing, making stuff. Time to put down the iPad, just for a while, and reconnect with what feels good in my body. That includes the deliberat...e and voluntary deployment of attention to specific tasks and using my body, instead of mindlessly scrolling through stimulating images. Whatever you do, repeatedly, grows. Whatever you cease to do, repeatedly, diminishes. Note to self: spend some time practicing being who you want to be. (I plan to stimulate my latent artistry by enlivening this oil painting I bought from an op-shop. The result might not be flash, but the process, the handling of oils, and brushes, and solvent, and knife will hopefully awaken rusty but lively parts of Fiona!)
