19.01.2022 It’s a hard one to admit, particularly to other mothers. We’re expected to love every minute of motherhood, expected to lap it up and enjoy it as they grow so quickly. But motherhood is HARD. Physically, psychologically and emotionally.... How can anyone enjoy that all of the time?! But it’s an expectation placed on us as women through the creation of a romanticised version of motherhood that is both unrealistic and unfair, producing consequences that push women even further away from this sought-after picture. Guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, relational issues to name only a few. All resulting in women doubting their abilities as mothers, leaving them feeling faulty or broken. You’re not broken. It’s OK not to enjoy every part of motherhood. Really... it’s ok to not enjoy the exhaustion, the frustration, the monotony, the loneliness. It doesn’t mean you don’t love your child. If you feel in your gut that things are harder than what they should be, please reach out to me. There can be a different path. Mothering is hard. You’re doing an amazing job. Remember this. xx

19.01.2022 A morning spent bushwalking with my crew while we’re here in Denmark, on WA’s amazing south coast. I had forgotten what getting outside does for me. After months of chaos and turbulence it felt incredibly centring and grounding to be among the crisp air and the dense karri forest. Almost like returning home. I do wonder why I let these simple means of reconnecting to myself fall by the wayside. What is it that you know you need, that you too let slip by?

19.01.2022 Trauma informed childbirth education, taught by a registered perinatal and trauma counsellor, focused on supporting both mental and physical well-being during pregnancy, birth and postnatally. 17.01.2022 The weekend was a busy but exciting one! I am so thrilled to have achieved Levels 1 and 2 of my African Drumming Teacher and Facilitation certification This is something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time, for both personal and professional benefits, and I’m really excited to bring this into my therapy work through 2021 in the form of drumming circles for women. The benefits of drumming are transformative ... aiding self-regulation and safe expression of emotion, build...ing confidence, creating safety in community and belonging, mindfulness and meditation, as well as skill development and encouraging creativity. And it’s incredibly fun! So if you’re curious and keen on finding out more, make sure you head over to my website and sign up to my newsletter to be among the first to know about my 2021 women’s drumming circles! Or drop your email in the comments and I’ll add you to the list. Oh, and meet Indy, my stunning djembe from Ghana in West Africa

17.01.2022 Wow, we’re merely weeks into the new year and so much has happened, meaning some big changes for my business This week I say goodbye to my premise at Gosnells which has been my home for the last 18 months. It has been an amazing space to work from so leaving it has been sad. But it seems that as one door closed two others have opened! I am SO excited to be working from two locations moving forward, allowing me to bring my services to more women in Perth. This weekend will ...see me move my business to Success, located within the Perth Maternity Cockburn hub. It’s such a beautiful, inviting space and I’m excited to be firmly planted in the perinatal space there. I’ll be based there Monday to Wednesday So if you’re ever in the hub make sure you say hello! Thursdays and Fridays I will be based in Bedfordale, in Perth’s stunning foothills. The perfect option for those along the eastern corridor So you now have the option to choose your preferred location when you arrange your session with me. My zoom sessions will continue for those who are unable to see me in person I’ll post more about each location soon. But for now I’m thrilled to be spreading my services a little further a field, with more availability for new clients with much shorter wait times for appointments Exciting times!

15.01.2022 There’s no sugar-coating it: trauma healing is messy, tearful, angry, painful work. It’s also liberating, empowering work that brings you freedom and inner peac...e. . You deserve to be your true self, not your traumatized self. You survived the trauma. You will survive the healing process, and you’ll be so much better off for it. . . . #selfloveforall #honoryourself #selflovematters #cptsdrecovery #selfhealing #healingfromtrauma #selflovewarrior #selfcompassion #selfacceptance #traumainformed #selfworth #selfworthmovement #selflovemovement #goodmentalhealth #emotionalhealth #emotionalhealing #emotionalwellbeing #emotionalwellness #selfgrowthjourney #mentalhealthjourney #ptsdrecovery #selfkindness #bekindtoyourself #traumainformedyoga #yogaforanxiety #yogaformentalhealth #traumahealing #innerchildwork #traumainformedcare #mentalhealthwarriors

14.01.2022 I know the Christmas season can be a difficult time for many and it can be hard to find a safe space for support when it’s needed most. As such, I’ll be opening my counselling bookings for various days outside of my normal days in the week leading up to Christmas, and again between Christmas and New Year, before taking some time off in January to spend with my family. My regular client days/hours will resume on Thursday January 28. Find out more about my counsellling: www.fionarogerson.com.au/counselling

12.01.2022 Update! Just a heads up that I’m currently down south, soaking up the holidays with my family, so I’m in and out of internet reception. I’m still answering emails and calls, and booking in sessions and classes, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m currently booking counselling sessions and birth debriefings through February, and taking bookings for my April HypnoBirthing course. Big changes are also in the works with an announcement coming in the next couple of weeks

07.01.2022 Every time you say YES to something, you are saying NO to something else. We’ve all heard this before... it generally relates to the creation and assertion of healthy boundaries. It encourages us to consider what we are ultimately turning down when we say yes to the things that we may not align with. For example, saying no to time with our family when we obligatorily say yes to doing a favour. Totally valid. I’m a huge advocate for setting boundaries and saying no to wh...at doesn’t serve us... anyone who works with me knows this! But there is also time for yes. Today I said yes to something for me. An investment of time, of money, of energy... for me. And in that I said no to self-sacrifice. No to self-sabotage. No to self-doubt. It was a yes to backing myself. Yes to supporting myself. Yes to trusting myself. Yes to self-development, self-love, self-commitment. So no can be strong. And yes can be powerful. Make room for both, as long as it serves you. Tell me, what have you said yes to lately? Or what do you need to say yes to in order to serve yourself? #perthcounsellor #womenscounselling #traumarecovery #birthtrauma #counsellingperth

05.01.2022 Hello hello! Our final circle for 2020 is happening this Friday at The Organic Circle. Together we’ll be honouring and debriefing the year that was, and setting our intentions for the year to come. I hope you can join us

04.01.2022 King Eddies has served our State for more than a century, and has played an important role in the lives of generations of WA families. Now it’s time to build ou...r next dedicated hospital, to provide the highest quality of health care for women and newborns for the next 100 years. As a result of this Government’s strong budget management, we’re able to invest $1.8 billion to build WA’s new, state-of-the-art Women and Babies Hospital within the QEII Medical Centre. The hospital will serve our whole State, no matter where you live in our suburbs or across regional WA. Using our strong Budget surplus, we have locked-in and fully funded $1.8 billion to build the new hospital providing certainty for the health sector and adding to the pipeline of work for WA’s construction sector. Scope of works and final designs will be determined following the development of a detailed business case and project definition plan. Works are estimated to begin in 2023, creating more than 1,400 local jobs.

04.01.2022 Something that comes up consistently for the women I work with is the isolation and loneliness that motherhood can bring, particularly in the early weeks and months. It’s not easy to put yourself out there to meet new people in a time that brings anxiety, exhaustion and self doubt for many. So with this in mind our February meet will centre on the idea of creating connections. We will use this time to introduce ourselves and form the beginnings of new friendships, in a space... without judgement or pretence, but instead safety and ease. You will be welcomed and held, in every way. So if connection, friendship and tribe is what you’re seeking, whether it be in your journey of planning a family, pregnancy or with a baby in your arms, you are wanted and welcome. Come along on February 5th and meet women like you. Fiona x
