21.01.2022 Sometimes people come to me because they need a business logo, but have no idea what they're really after. Others have a very clear logo idea, but lack the know-how to create it in a flexible, usable (digital) way. Hollie from Hobart was one of these clients. She came to me with some sketches, an idea of the colour she was after and a specific budget. We talked over how the logo would be used and the sorts of things it would need to be applied to, and then it was over to me. Here's how that ended up:

19.01.2022 For the locals: Here's some marketing material I've designed to promote the up-coming Channel Christian School Twilight Fair - get along to it if you can; you'll be well rewarded! https://fvdesigncomau.wordpress.com/2017/03/01/595

19.01.2022 Still updating my website with some of the more involved projects from last year... https://fvdesigncomau.wordpress.com/2017/02/17/578

19.01.2022 Who knows what a 'favicon' is? Its the little website icon displayed in a browser's address bar or next to the site name in a bookmark list. The 'm' (in a green square) in this latest job is an example of one I did not long ago. So there you have it: Everyday's a school day folks. http://fvdesign.com.au/2017/08/10/654/

17.01.2022 After a year off from Facebook, FVD is getting back in the game. I'd like to say I've been swanning about having retired early, but in truth, there have just been bigger things going on in life than promoting business. Speaking of which, I've created a new website to showcase my work.... It's simpler than my last one, and should be a lot easier for me to update and keep on top of. Take a look at: www.fvdesign.com.au I'd love to hear your feedback (any and all comments appreciated) as it's still a work in progress.

15.01.2022 Have you ever thought of graphic design as 'making something look pretty'? Plenty of people do. But it's actually more about making something FUNCTION WELL (while looking pretty). You know you've designed something well when people can use your design/product, but not notice it. Sometimes it's the 'least creative' jobs that make you work your hardest to achieve good design. ... Here's an example from a job I completed for Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park Yep - it's a map. Not something that generally gets peoples' hearts beating faster, but an essential tool nonetheless! While I worked hard to make it 'look pretty' (reconfiguring colours and fonts to match those of the Scamander Sanctuary brand, including relevant images to keep it interesting and informative) - my key concern was clarity and legibility. This was done by removing as many superfluous details as possible and ensuring that the Map Key was as easy to read and understand as possible. After all, who wants a map that looks pretty but is crazy confusing to use??

14.01.2022 New business cards - fresh from the printers. Woohoo!

14.01.2022 Firstly: I've updated my website! It now combines both my Graphic Design AND my Art services. Check it out here: www.fionaverdouw.com After many months of focusing hard on the ART leg of my business I thought it was high time I started keeping you up-to-date with the DESIGN side of things. Here's a small job I worked on last week for a local college who is opening an Early Years Program and wanted to start things off looking profesh (as they say ). ... This was a very specific brief, so I essentially helped out creating a clean logo from a pre-existing idea that the client had. If you had to choose, which option would you go with? See more

14.01.2022 Support local business, guys!

13.01.2022 CLIENT Karratha Baptist Church Karratha Baptist Church was looking for a logo that better reflected their location within the Pilbara region of far north-west Australia. Use of topographical colours and shapes, as well as symbols which clearly represent the Christian faith were used to achieve this. https://fvdesigncomau.wordpress.com/2017/02/15/560

09.01.2022 Latest project in the pipeline is up and running. Look out for the new signage promoting this stunning East Coast park! https://fvdesigncomau.wordpress.com/2017/03/27/612

08.01.2022 It's been a while since I updated my website. I'm having lots of fun revisiting recent work. I'm pleased to say the Coffee Creek land is selling like hot-cakes... Can I take some credit for that?!? http://fvdesign.com.au/2017/08/03/640/

08.01.2022 Hello again! It's been a while (my fault, not yours). Thought I'd kick-start 2019 (in March!) with a few info-graphic illustrations I produced for the JAWS Interiors website late last year. Personally, I love the little builder guy in the hardhat. Which pic is your favourite?

06.01.2022 THE BEAUTY OF THE DIGITAL AGE... I recently designed a logo for a client I have never met, who lives interstate. We talked on the phone, we emailed back and forth, I billed him, he paid me and voila! - It was done. Crazily enough, we are related through marriage. The world is a small place, and the Verdouws are a big family.... I'm grateful for the ease with which technology assists me to do my work these days, but wonder if these advances mean that any future Verdouw family reunion will have to be done via Skype to feel normal?

04.01.2022 SURPRISE! I'm an artist in designer's clothing... For those of you who like my Design (thank you), perhaps you'll be interested to learn that when I'm not drawing up a logo or laying out a brochure, I LOVE to mess about with oil paint. So here's a glimpse into the other half of my working world: Perhaps you'd like to join me...

02.01.2022 So, I thought I'd let you in on what I've actually been doing (work-wise) for the past 12 months - now that we're clear that I didn't retire early. Over the next little while I'll just post a few snap shots of recent projects. Hopefully this will fill in the blanks and keep you up to date! Here's a very small little one-off I did for Christian Schools Tasmania.... Acting as a Placement, Menu, Thank you and Donation form for recent building works, it certainly killed more than just a few birds with one stone! Happily, the end product could be shredded at the end of the event, to create nesting material for any birds orphaned in the design process.

01.01.2022 CLIENTELDERS REAL ESTATE Kingborough This local real estate company needed to create price lists for prospective clients that not only looked professional, but which fitted within the broader Elders Real Estate brand guidelines. This A3-folded-to-A4 format was designed to allow Elders Staff to print the price lists in-house. To add to the flexibility of the document, I also provided them with an electronic file that can be edited by office staff as the need arises. Convenient, hey? http://fvdesign.com.au/2019/08/26/elders-price-lists/
