25.01.2022 With regret I have to announce that FWC is closed as of Monday 16th March. It has been a turbulent start to the year, with family loss, the launch of the West Kentish Hospice charity, bushfire anxiety and many other things. In my day job I am part of the coronavirus response and it is not yet clear what the coming weeks will bring. As far as I know I have completed all commissions - if you still have something pending which I have clearly forgotten about, let me know.... I will be at the Tasmanian Craft Fair in November. If you wish to contact me with requests in the run up to that event, please do. I will continue to make pieces and post pictures of them when I can. In the meantime, take care, follow public health advice and stay safe. See you in November!
24.01.2022 So there's lots of colourful glazy goodness coming to the Craft Fair this weekend. Mugs, cups and plates running with juicy patterned surfaces, every one an individual hand made piece in porcelain and stoneware. Opulent Renaissance and Regency fabrics are echoed in the designs and they only look better in the hand!
16.01.2022 Where will you be this weekend? I'll be at the Tasmanian Craft fair #tascraftfair in Deloraine the 1st - 4th November. I'll be posting on Instagram during that time, with the above hashtag, or find me as IG fiona_wallace_tasmania
15.01.2022 Haven’t got any ceramic work done in the last few weeks. Instead I have been teaching myself woodcarving to make texture plates for mugs, plates and tiles. The designs are Tasmanian native plants including fagus, leatherwood, Christmas bells and tea tree.
14.01.2022 The pottery is closed for winter - I won’t be accepting any bookings for classes until September. It isn’t laziness, it’s just too cold! Throwing and hand building isn’t fun when the clay is barely above freezing. I may be running a workshop at the Makers, Burnie in August. Check back for details. After that the next market is Blooming Tasmania in September.
12.01.2022 I will be at the TCF again this year. Usual spot, Gaye’s Pavilion on the left just inside the door. Hoping for better weather this time...
11.01.2022 Here are some closeups of that succulent glazy depth.
09.01.2022 Unfortunately due to hospice planning work commitments I have had to cancel the mug workshops. New days will be planned for January.
09.01.2022 Not unexpected, but still sad. I will be working to get some new pieces online instead.
07.01.2022 Classes are up! Apologies that the wheel throwing and glazing is delayed - I sanded the top of my finger off and it's going to take a while to heal - needless to say it's my right hand, and while I can struggle on with my own work, I'm not really able to teach these at present. Some classes have a minimum number of participants - this is noted in the event details. Because of the preparation required, I require payment in advance, 50% refundable for cancellation up to 24h prior to the class.
02.01.2022 Two days to the craft fair. All the display tables have a fresh coat of varnish. The signs have been dusted down, the drapes shaken out and today I am packing the trailer for an early departure tomorrow morning. The forecast is good, with Friday the warmest day (24C!!)and the expected rain mostly happening in the evenings and overnight. ... There's so much happens at the fair - not just the obvious crafts, but wineries and breweries, lots of foodie things and plenty of live music. There's sheep, sheepdogs and alpacas. Blacksmithing, dry stone walling, glass blowing wood steaming, loads of plants and gardening things, over 800 stalls to be explored.
02.01.2022 What's on at the Pioneer Galleries in Sheffield for the new year in January.
