19.01.2022 Fantastic Rain at the moment but we must also remain aware of future outlooks in preparation for another summer. Our Bushfire field officers are assessing a number of interface areas where townships and built up urban communities are intersecting with Bush land in the state and to plan for more fuel reduction leading into the warmer months. Hopefully some more larger Hazard Reduction burns in these areas to come. For now let’s think of those farmers getting this much needed rain and them getting some relief.

16.01.2022 With summer starting tomorrow and many grass and bushfires already burning, it's a timely reminder to start preparing for bushfires. While the risk of bushfir...es isn't as high as last summerdue to an active La Niña which suggests wetter-than-average conditions for much of the countryfires will still occur. Southeastern Australia in particular is one of the most fire-prone regions in the world and even short periods of hot and dry weather can increase the risk of fire in summer. Understanding fire weather means you can be better prepared and help you stay safe. Learn more from our blog: http://ow.ly/zFLl50CxDDN

12.01.2022 Great initiative from Central Coast Council.
12.01.2022 FACT: There will never be as many fire trucks as there are houses. Do not depend on a fire truck being available at your home. But if you and your home are well... prepared, you stand a better chance of surviving a bush fire. There are simple things you can do around your home to prepare it for a bush fire, like keeping the grass low and having a cleared area around your home. 05.01.2022 A change in wind direction can change bushfire activity in a moment, shifting the flank of the fire to the fire front, suddenly putting the community and fire f...ighters at risk. Wind change can also change the rate of fire spreads and increase the quantity, distance and direction of the bushfire. People who think the fire danger has passed, may get caught out when the wind changes suddenly. That's why it is so important that keep up to date with the latest weather warnings and forecasts, and listen to the advice of emergency services Know your weather. Know your risk. 05.01.2022 Prescribed burn at Bonnells Bay today. #FRNSW
04.01.2022 Bushfire officers today conducted pile burning in the Illawara northern suburbs. Part of the hazard reduction program to help reduce some of the Bush fuel loads around the interface. Trialling a retardant gel on trees close by to protect them as part of a pre treatment project. These can be used to pre treat homes, gardens , sheds , and surrounds to help protect them greater from bushfires. Used overseas already for quite some time by simply attaching to a garden hose and... spraying on the product. Bio safe and enviro friendly these products are a key into the future. Not a guaranteed solution but an innovative tactic for home owners to utilise. More development in building the communities resilience to bushfires and for them to assist fire crews into the future. Big thanks to Corrimal and Coledale crews for all your help today.
04.01.2022 Hot weather is coming. With increased growth, there's an increased risk of grass fires this season. Know what to do to get ready. Check www.myfireplan.com.au for tips on how to keep your family and property safe.
04.01.2022 Its been a busy week for our four Bushfire Officers, travelling around the state. Keeping tabs on fuel moisture content at our treatment sites so we can burn as soon as it is dry enough given the stormy weather we have been experiencing.
03.01.2022 Thursday’s location took us to Moruya Heads for some more hazard reduction near the local residents and community. Big thankyou to all the crews for another great effort.
03.01.2022 And here it comes...
02.01.2022 Today Commissioner Baxter joined Commissioner Rogers and the NSW Rural Fire Service to mark the start of the 2020/21 Bush Fire Danger Period. Commissioner Baxte...r urged the NSW community to begin preparing their home as we head into the summer months and to consider the risk of bush fires when traveling around the State. As we move into summer and the holiday period, and especially given the travel restrictions with COVID-19, many people will be visiting bush fire prone areas. While they might not typically live in an at risk area, it’s important they have a plan for the area they are visiting." For more information and to prepare you home visit: http://www.myfireplan.com.au/ #FRNSW #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable
01.01.2022 One of today’s prescribed burns with Bushfire Officer 4 went like clock work at Buff Point. The team is ramping up operations to get as much done with the favourable weather conditions at the moment. #FRNSW
