24.01.2022 With bush fire season officially round the corner, we worked on our pump and roll skills today. Having the Davey pump run off the appliance tank water. This gives us the capacity to move along a section of road that may have had a fire in grass or bush land and continually move along and black out any areas that may still be smouldering. This also gives us another pumping option if the need ever arises for a structure fire or even a boat fire at any of the local mariners. #016 #frnsw #concordfirestation #firefighting

22.01.2022 Early morning Fire call, Concord West. Local crews responded to a club house on fire and on arrival were confronted with the club house fully engulfed. Crews ...from 16 and 66 quickly began to extinguish the fire. Further crews from 42, 15 and 30 assisted and successfully extinguished the fire before spreading to bushland. Unfortunately the old weatherboard building originally from Arnotts at North Strathfield couldn’t be saved. 22.01.2022 016 Concord station were responded to a 2nd alarm structure fire at approx 1:50am this morning. After already attending a seperate call at 1:30, the crew heard the message from 017 Drummoyne stations, Station commander for extra resources to the house fire in five dock. Concord station were the 3rd arriving pump and quickly got to work on fire attack. Great work done by the first arriving pumps from Drummoyne and Ashfield in finding the resident and removing him from the scene. #frnsw #frnswmedia #016 #concordfirestation

16.01.2022 Change your clocks. Check your smoke alarm! This Sunday the 6th of October see's Daylight Savings start in NSW. At 2:00am clocks are moved forward 1 hour to 3:0...0am. With the commencement of Daylight Savings time it's also a good reminder to check your smoke alarm is in good working order. The risk of a fatality in a home fire is halved if there is a properly installed and working smoke alarm in a house. #preparedforanything

The smoke affecting many parts of Sydney is being blown un...der westerly winds from fires in the Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Wollondilly areas. Forecast strengthening winds tomorrow should start to see conditions gradually improve. If you are easily affected by smoke, take precautions to protect your health. 09.01.2022 #016 #concordfirestation was one of many appliances that were tasked at some stage through the night to attend an 8th alarm factory fire in Yennora last night. After a brief stint at 008 Liverpool station for a standby, we were sent to the incident with 042 Ryde as it was de-escalated. We were tasked to manage any flare ups and to continue to provide 027 Parramatta stations ladder platform with water. Our shift concluded at 1:30am and we headed back to concord to finish off our 24hour shift. #frnsw #yennora #factoryfire

03.01.2022 016 station visited Concord Hospital this morning for a multi agency drill, setting up the decontamination showers for a mass casualty HAZMAT incident.

03.01.2022 A brief overview of our night. Upon our arrival, Burwood had made entry to the premises and began fire attack. 016’s crew assisted with fire attack in the main building, then made their way into an ajoining business that had a store room alight.... Once they had fire control they began overhaul and ventilation.

01.01.2022 It’s official. Due to the forecasted combination of high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity on Tuesday the NSW Rural Fire Service have declared a fire... danger rating of Catastrophic. If a fire starts and takes hold during Catastrophic fire danger conditions, lives and homes will be at risk. Advice for people in areas of Catastrophic fire danger include: : Avoid bush fire prone areas. A safer area may be a large town or city, shopping centres or facilities well away from bushland areas. : Schools in identified high risk areas will be closed. Schools will notify affected students. Start making arrangements now. : If you are unable to leave, identify a safe location which may be nearby, this may include a Neighbourhood Safer Place. This is the first time since new Fire Danger Ratings were introduced in 2009 that Catastrophic fire danger has been forecast for Sydney.
