19.01.2022 With more of us spending increased time indoors it's a good time to check your smoke alarms are working. Working smoke alarms help save lives! All smoke alarms ...should be checked at least once a month and vacuumed once every six months - this keeps your smoke alarm free of particles to help reduce false alarms and ensure smoke can easily reach the internal sensor. If your smoke alarm is older than 10 years the alarm should be replaced with a new 10 year battery smoke alarm. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

16.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of Men’s Health Week, a week that focuses on the health impacts of men’s environments. Our people are our most important asset and the...ir mental and physical wellbeing is crucial to ensuring we are prepared for anything. This year Men’s Health Week highlights the importance of taking the time to have regular check-ups with a general practitioner and regular check-ins with your loved ones. Some of the work Fire and Rescue NSW is doing to support our people in this area includes the recruitment of Wellbeing Officers to support the roll out of mental health programs and enhancing our personal protective equipment to reduce our firefighters exposure to carcinogens. Tips from www.menshealthweek.org.au to manage your health: Be active in getting medical help if you don't feel well, have a problem that won't go away or notice unusual symptoms. It's OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. Partners - be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. Don't leave it too late to seek help. 16.01.2022 Here is an image that shows why we tell people it’s important to crawl down low and go go go if there was a fire in your home. The smoke layers are thicker and substantially hotter higher up. You have a much better chance of escaping a fire by crawling along the floor to an exit.
15.01.2022 ST FLORIAN’S DAY | Today marks St Florian’s Day - also known as International Firefighters Day. St Florian is the patron saint of firefighters. Today we celebra...te the dedicated men and women who work each day to protect you, the irreplaceable. Whether it’s rescuing you from a car crash, providing emergency medical care to your loved one or humanitarian relief to your community - our firefighters do so much more than fight fire. We are #PreparedForAnything. Today, we also remember all firefighters who have lost their lives while serving others. While we can’t celebrate this important day the way we usually would; we join together in commemoration, as we stay apart. #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #MoreThanFire #OurPeople

10.01.2022 This Sunday, 5 April, daylight savings will end. Remember to change your clocks, but more importantly, check your smoke alarm. Working smoke alarms help save lives. Don't risk it. Test it. #PreparedForAnything #ToProtectTheIrreplaceable
09.01.2022 **A message from our Commissioner Paul Baxter** Today Fire and Rescue NSW pay tribute to all who have bravely served to protect our country. We have a close re...lationship with the armed forces, with many of our firefighters joining to serve the community after serving their country. This year we couldn’t attend services; so we join together in remembrance, as we stay apart. Lest we forget.

03.01.2022 Understanding fire safety is important for everyone which is why we have the Culturally and Linguistic Diverse (CALD) program. The overall aim of the CALD progr...am is to reduce both the frequency and severity of fires in culturally diverse community members homes. We do this through safety information translated into different languages as well as providing education programs. Find out more here: https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/page.php?id=9335
03.01.2022 Keeping cosy by an outdoor fire this long weekend? Ensure your fire pit is located downwind and a safe distance from flammable materials. If you are cooking over an open fire, never leave your cooking unattended or without adult supervision. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

02.01.2022 As the temperatures drop and we get closer to winter we see an increase in residential house fire and house fire related deaths. Today our Fire Investigation an...d Research team showed us just how easy it is for a fire to start in your home when a heater is left unattended. Remember always to keep furniture and blankets at least one meter from the heater, and not to overload powerboard as we head into the winter months. For information on how to prepare your home for winter visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au/winter #PreparedForAnything #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable
