25.01.2022 Thank you for your service Chris, so much knowledge and experience leaving the brigade but we wish you well in retirement. You’ve dedicated a lot to the community over the years and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Great achievement Chris, over 6000 calls attended. Farewell

25.01.2022 NSW Ambulance and NSW Police are appealing to the public to only call Triple Zero in emergency situations to ensure paramedics and police officers can help thos...e most in need. New figures show thousands of non-emergency Triple Zero calls are being made each week at a time when emergency services have never been busier. In the 12 months to 31 March 2021, NSW Ambulance responded to more than 200,000 jobs where no patient was taken to hospital with reasons ranging from hoax calls to refusal of transport. For the same period, NSW Ambulance also received a concerning number of calls for trivial matters including 1,036 calls from people complaining about constipation, 662 for a toothache, 215 for earaches, 167 for boils, 157 from people who couldn’t sleep and 16 for hiccups. During the same period, the NSW Police Force received almost 800,000 requests for assistance via Triple Zero, which is in addition to more than 580,000 non-emergency reports through the Police Assistance Line 131 444 and the NSW Police Community Portal (https://portal.police.nsw.gov.au). Of the Triple Zero calls, about 40,000 are transferred to a non-emergency line, but more than 150,000 calls are later deemed to have been more suitable to a non-emergency line. NSW Ambulance Assistant Commissioner Steven Norris, Director of Control Centres, said non-emergency jobs take paramedics and call takers away from their most important work saving lives. If you are having a medical emergency we will always respond to you but too often our paramedics are responding to calls that we simply don’t need to attend, Mr Norris said. We want the public to think before calling us for trivial matters. If it isn’t a medical emergency, please consider other health services such as your GP, a pharmacist or a registered nurse at HealthDirect which is available 24 hours a day. NSW Police Communications and Security Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rashelle Conroy, said there are a variety of ways for the community to report non-emergency or minor incidents, which saves Triple Zero for all emergencies. Triple Zero operators understand that life-threatening incidents can be traumatic and stressful and their priority is to establish where help is needed and why, A/Assistant Commissioner Conroy said. More than 70% of calls to Triple Zero are made from mobile phones and as callers often focus on relaying what’s happening, our operators need to take control and pinpoint the exact location of the emergency to know where to send police or other resources. When the caller is unsure of where they are or how to describe it call-processing times can be longer, so to ensure there’s always an operator available for any emergency, we’re reminding the community to save Triple Zero for saving lives. In 2020-21, the NSW Government is investing more than $1 billion in services and capital works for NSW Ambulance. To help meet increasing demand, NSW Ambulance will soon deploy 100 paramedics earlier than planned as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to recruit 750 new paramedics and control centre staff over four years from 2018. In 2019, the NSW Government committed to investing more than $583 million to deliver 1500 extra police over four years.

25.01.2022 Last night at 22:08 Pumper 208 and Tanker 208 responded to reports of a car fire on Wells Gully Road past Aberdeen Waste facility. On arrival crews found a car well alight and got to work with the high pressure hose. Two firefighters in BA (Breathing Apparatus) extinguished the fire before returning to station.

24.01.2022 Pumper 208 at wires down near the high school. Power has been restored and segenhoe street is open for traffic again. We would like to remind the community, especially the high school kids leaving school this afternoon that when there is a wire down beside numerous cars like that, please don’t go anywhere near it. Especially do not drive over it. The power was still live for some time before energy authority turned up to fix the problem.

24.01.2022 On this day 19 years ago, 343 Firefighters ran into the World Trade Center doing their job and never returned . 60 Police Officers didn’t return home from that shift. ... 8 EMT/Paramedics heard their last call and didn’t return home. Today we remember their bravery and sacrifice. New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Fire and Rescue NSW

14.01.2022 Last week, the crew had a rundown on Fire and Rescue NSW Station 208 Aberdeen 's new drone or RPAS (remote piloted aircraft system) and it's capabilities. This ...piece of equipment can help us with building fires, large HAZMAT incidents, searching for missing persons and much, much more! It has video, thermal imaging, floodlights, loudspeaker and more! Having this fantastic piece of equipment only 40 minutes away will be a great asset to our area, for extended or large incidents. Our Duty Commander also took part in the delivery of this training. In other news, we have received a new (old) SEV (service exchange vehicle) to replace our older spare truck. This one is the same model as our rescue appliance, but in outstanding condition from its previous home at Nyngan. #frnswmedia #rpas #dji #drone #heretohelp

08.01.2022 With high temperatures expected for the weekend in the valley, please do yourselves a favour and double check your car before leaving it parked. We don’t want to see children or pets locked in cars. #SurviveTheHeat Fire and Rescue NSW Regional West 2

08.01.2022 The crew was kept busy last night with two automatic fire alarms in Scone and an early morning house fire in Muswellbrook.

06.01.2022 If you're changing your clocks before going to bed tonight, take a moment to check your smoke alarm. It’s as simple as pressing a button. If your alarm isn't working, replace the battery or the unit. Only working smoke alarms help save lives. Don’t risk it, test it. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

05.01.2022 At 02:14 this morning pumper 208 and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 392 Muswellbrook were responded to reports of a house fire in Muswellbrook. On arrival crews were faced with a house fully involved with flames, fortunately the owner had a working smoke alarm and was able to get out with his dog. 04.01.2022 Know what to do when you hear a siren or see the flashing blue or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle? When you hear a siren or see the flashing blu...e or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle: * Give way to the emergency vehicle if you are stopped do not move until it is safe to proceed, even if the traffic light is green. If you are moving, you must slow down and stop if necessary to avoid a collision with the emergency vehicle. * Move out of the way as soon as you can safely do so * Move over as much as you can to the left-hand side of the road or, if possible, move onto the road shoulder or breakdown lane. On multi-lane roads, try to move into the left lane to let the emergency vehicle pass * Drivers on both sides of the road should be prepared to move out of the path of emergency vehicles * Emergency vehicles with sirens sounding or lights flashing responding to urgent situations are not required to follow the rules, as long as it is safe for them to do so. Drivers should always be extra cautious when they see flashing lights or hear sirens. https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au//approaching-emerg
