22.01.2022 WE REMEMBER | Today marks National Police Remembrance Day, where we commemorate the service and sacrifice of the members of the NSW Police Force who have lost t...heir lives in the line of duty. Much like our firefighters, police officers dedicate their lives to protecting our NSW community. Today we recognise their courage and commend all those who have lost their lives to keep us safe. #MoreThanFire #Community
20.01.2022 Today we remember those who have served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
19.01.2022 Have you and your family got an Escape plan in case of an emergency like a fire RIGHT NOW!! is the perfect time whilst the kids are on holidays to discuss your home Escape plan. See the link attached to print out your home Escape Plan https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au//community/escape_plan_grid.pdf Escape Plan Checklist!!... Draw your escape plan on paper or our printable grid, and discuss your escape plan with your whole family (download and print your grid). record two safe ways out of every room. Make sure that your windows and doors are not obstructed and can be unlocked and opened quickly if necessary. As you escape make sure you close internal doors behind you as this can reduce fire spread and minimise damage. Decide on a safe outside meeting place eg. Near the letterbox. GET OUT and STAY OUT! Never go back inside a burning building. Install smoke alarms: test them monthly and change the batteries every 6 months (for battery operated alarms). Practise your escape plan regularly with the whole household including pets If there is a fire in your home, do not wait, EVERY SECOND COUNTS, escape immediately and then call 000. Remember to consider the special needs of children, the elderly or the disabled when developing your escape plan. KEEP your Escape plan simple so everyone understands it, and PLEASE we would love to see your kids examples of Escape plans for inspiration to others #PreparedForAnything #EscapePlan #MoreThanFire #ourpeople #preventionAndEducation https://www.facebook.com/frnsw/posts/3484115604956325

06.01.2022 To most 343 is just a number. To nearly all firefighters around the world, it is a humbling reminder of the events that took place in New York on this day, 19 y...ears ago. This is because on 9/11, 343 New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters did not finish their shift. The tragedy claimed the lives of 2977 innocent victims, and many continue to be impacted. To date, 227 additional firefighters have died with illnesses related to 9/11, with 27 names recently added to the FDNY World Trade Centre Memorial Wall. FRNSW shares deep and personal connections with FDNY, we will never forget the immediate and ongoing loss they were dealt and continue to deal with, all those affected are in our thoughts today.
