04.01.2022 We’ve been busy enough, don’t make it harder for us! Conducting your own private fireworks display this New Years Eve, though it’s may seem fun, could lead to h...eavy fines or even jail time. A total fire ban is in place for New Years Eve and the penalties for disobeying them are severe: $2,200 on the spot fine; if the matter goes to court a fine of up to $5,500 and/or 12 months gaol; and if a fire that escapes and damages and destroys life, property or the environment can attract fines up to $132,000 and/or 14 years gaol. It’s just not worth it!
04.01.2022 The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) confirms that a NSW RFS volunteer firefighter has died this evening near Jingellic. A further two firefighters on the same truck have suffered burns and are being conveyed to hospital. The firefighters were working on the Green Valley, Talmalmo Fire, approximately 70km east of Albury when it’s believed that the truck rolled when hit by extreme winds associated with the fire.... A second vehicle working in the same area was also blown over and the firefighter on board has been transported to hospital. The Service’s thoughts are with all the firefighter’s families, friends and fellow brigade members.
03.01.2022 Wrights creek fire update Yesterday was a tough day for Kulnura and the residents along Kyola Road. The fire has crossed out of Mangrove creek and has now cros...sed into Kulnura Creek and Brieses Gully to the south of Williams Road. It has also crossed the dam road and is burning in the vicinity of the boomerang portal track. The Wrights Creek Fire and Three Mile fires have joined in McPherson forest. Both of these fires have burnt straight through areas that have had recent wildfires and hazard reductions. Yesterday afternoon our local crew, support by central coast brigades, two Cumberland strike teams, Gosford bulk water trucks and a fire and rescue strike team. The fire impacted Kyola road, and we did have one spot fire onto George Downes drive that was quickly extinguished. We urge all residents in Kulnura, and in particular in the Kyola Road, Williams Road and George Downes Drive backing onto Warre Warren creek to prepare and put your bushfire survival plans into effect over the next few days. Please be aware that there will be quite a few trucks around the Kulnura area again today.
