25.01.2022 Let's all be one's who think about our community and do whatever it takes to keep them healthy. https://ndibs.wordpress.com//covid-19-activities-and-risks/

23.01.2022 Now how can I use the drone to inspect fire dampers & smoke control systems?

22.01.2022 Tis the season to be cautious. While we who are Christians see this time of the year as a reminder of our God becoming man (thank You God), we also need to remember that holidays, parties, barbecues and stinking hot weather, storms and mad drivers should all give us cause for caution. May you all have a blessed and wonderful time with those whom you most care and return in 2015 refreshed and full of vigor to achieve your potential.

21.01.2022 We are currently involved in the review and redrafting of Australian Standard AS1682 parts 1 & 2 being the manufacture and installation of fire dampers and smoke dampers.

17.01.2022 Finally got around to updating the fireassess.com.au website

16.01.2022 Simon Hill has just provided a workshop for fire & smoke damper installation and certification as applying to the Northern Territory. We assisted in course preparation and shall be marking the legislation component of the course assignments and examination. This training is provided via AMCA and some 600 personnel have qualified throughout Australia.... This course is recommended for anyone involved in the installation and servicing of fire & smoke dampers. It is also of great benefit to those supervising, designing as well as those certifying (including AHJ's) to participate in this course. Contact your AMCA State Office for course details.

14.01.2022 This week (except Wednesday) we're at Blacktown International Sports Complex for WebFM conducting projection planning assessments for Blacktown Council.

14.01.2022 This past year has seen some changes to our customer base and with the separation of NSW Health's Greater Southern Area Health into SE NSW Local Health & Murrimbidgee Local Health, this changed the way we provide some services, with additional provision as interim Fire Safety Advisor pending the appointment of the new appointee for Murrimbidgee (congratulations Steve on this new role as Fire & Security Advisor MLHD).

12.01.2022 This journey has been some twenty years in the making and there are a number of people and events to recall as an integral part of the journey and the author apologises for not including everyone and everything:- Adj. Professor David Hood AM, Hon FIEAust, as Director Engineering for The Institution of Engineers Australia, saw both the importance and potential of having an engineering discipline called building services engineering in the mid. 11.01.2022 AS1851-2012 finally published - this standard immediately makes obsolete earlier versions and can be regarded as minimum best practice for the service and repair of essential services measures in buildings.

09.01.2022 Well we knew that the NSW Government would likely delay the CFSP accreditation requirement - but we have our numbers already Ian's F043175A & Alex is F050590A evidently the A means assessor

08.01.2022 Well it's been a fun couple of months. We've done assessments on about 250 properties, with follow-up's as necessary, a Coroners Court, Finished off (with the team) the development of some Australian Standards, Equipment Condition and Thermal Comfort assessment of a couple of buildings, and the add hock advisory for a breadth of enquiries. A Big Thank you to our customers and we shall invoice once we get a chance to catch our breath.

08.01.2022 On Wednesday we're presenting and supervising the examination for the AMCA Fire & Smoke Damper & Certifier course.

06.01.2022 We just added a presentation page for our www.ndibs.com.au site including the notes for the Legionella Maintenance Management workshop, plus asbestos, food handling, storage and handling of hazardous materials. Plus samples of ventilation fire tactical plans and industrial site fire services block plan.

05.01.2022 Essential fire safety measures are installations in a building that assist in reducing risk to life and property in the event of an emergency. They include equipment and protective devices such as fire hose reels and fire doors. The following is a list of essential fire safety measures: Access panels, doors and hoppers to fire-resisting shafts Automatic fail-safe devices Automatic fire detection and alarm systems [ 1,207 more word ] https://ndibs.wordpress.com//essential-fire-safety-measur/

04.01.2022 We've just registered another business name: CFSP which stands for Competent Fire Safety Practitioner. NSW will require assessment by a registered CFSP accredited for each of the fire safety measures listed on the fire safety schedule of buildings for submission of Annual Fire Safety Statements. Alex is CFSP# F050590A and I'm #F043175A We are accredited to cover all measures...

03.01.2022 The Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) has now been formally approved under section 59 of the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018 What this means is that now every building owner can only use an accredited assessor under that scheme to endorse the performance of the measures that they are accredited for in the fire safety schedule of any annual fire safety statement.

03.01.2022 Had an interesting issue the other day. Raised a concern about fire collars used on VESDA and asked for AS1530.4 test cert. They've never done one! The issue is that the didectic material will expand and fracture the empty pipe, then be dispersed by the airflow, before the line can be sealed. Conduit fire collars are tested with 60%-80% filled by cables. Totally different to empty line with air blowing.

01.01.2022 Interesting development re egress from multi level hospitals. It appears that the step tread nosings on the fire stairs shred the mattresses and slides used for patient evacuation. Health Infrastructure (the Project Manager) claims it meets the criteria of the BCA and so shall once again get to walk away from a facility that is not fit for purpose.

01.01.2022 Still getting over having Dad went to Glory last week in his 99 1/2 year. Still missing him and hope the memories never really dull. Dad was Workshops Officer for NSWFB for 37 years (joined at the end of WW2) and designed the then flaming torch logo for NSWFB. As a kid I loved the Saturdays at the Spencer Street Fivedock Workshop with him and only blasted the sirens a few times.... I thank God for placing me in his care..
