24.01.2022 Fire call At 1220hrs today, Pumper 314 was called to a persons trapped MVA on the corner of the Kamilaroi Highway and Blue Vale Road. On arrival we observed a south bound car had crashed into a a semitrailer that was stationary on Blue Vale Road and waiting to enter the highway. Another car was on scene with minor damage.... One occupant of the car self extricated while another was freed by NSW SES and NSW ambulance crews. Both of these occupants were treated on scene and then transported to hospital. FRNSW crews provided fire protection and were the agency responsible for the clean up of a large amount of diesel spilling from the ruptured tanks of the semi trailer . We used special tape to stem the flow but Fire and Rescue NSW Station 452 Tamworth Hazmat attended the scene and used the pump you can see on the photos to decant the diesel from damaged tanks, into another mobile diesel tank. We contained all diesel and us such no harm was done to the environment, which is one of our major considerations at jobs such as this. Pumper 448 from South Tamworth were moved up to protect the town while we were at the protracted job. Thanks guys! NSW RFS were on scene and towed the damaged car off the road. The road surface was rendered safe before FRNSW teams returned to their respective stations. Our Duty Commander from Tamworth was also on scene to support his crews.

24.01.2022 Today is #NationalDogDay and we couldnt pass up this opportunity to share a pic of our friend Duke! Did you know that Dalmatians are traditionally associated ...with the fire brigade but this was not the case in NSW? There may not have been dalmatians in Sydneys early fire brigade history but many fire stations around NSW had their own mascot or station dog (generally not a dalmatian) whose main job was to keep the horses calm as the station bells sounded and at fires. Happy Dog Day! #DogDay #Museum #History #VisitPenrith #Firefighters #Dalmatian Fire and Rescue NSW

18.01.2022 1555hrs - Fire Call Just before 4 this afternoon, Pumper 314 and Pumper 229 Boggabri, were called to a house fire in Linden Place Gunnedah. On arrival an incredible amount of smoke was seen emanating from a brick residence.... Crews in Breathing Apparatus got to work fighting the fire defensively due to the ferocity of the fire. Crews were unable to save the house but saved a number of vehicles parked in the garage of the property. Disappointingly, crew members following the fire truck to the scene in their private vehicles, were significantly hindered by a large number of sightseers doing a drive by of the scene. The best thing you can do in a situation such as this, is to stay away and let emergency sevices do their job. Delaying our arrival has the potential to have tragic outcomes. Big thanks, and we say this a lot, to the amazing support afforded to us by our colleagues in the NSW RFS, NSW Police and NSW Ambulance. This town is lucky to have these men and women serving it.

10.01.2022 At 5 27pm today we were called to an explosion on Lochery Rd, upon arrival a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. It was probably tyres exploding that caused the noise. We extinguished the fire and handed it over to the RFS.

06.01.2022 Regardless of how cold it is, NEVER use outdoor heaters, barbecues or charcoal pits inside your home. LPG, heat beads and the like emit lethal carbon monoxide ...which can be fatal in a confined space. For more information, visit https://fal.cn/39SQ1. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

05.01.2022 FIRE CALL Machinery Fire 16:41hrs Yesterday afternoon Pump 506 & Composite 399 from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 399 Narrabri were assigned to reports of a... machinery fire at the grain silos in Wee Waa. When crews arrived smoke was found issuing from the very top of the silos in the elevator compartment. Another crew from 399 narrabri we also requested to have the Hazmat Van attend for any hazardous materials. Crews rotated through the incident climbing to the top and extinguishing the fire. Due to the heat, 28 flights of stairs, 2 further sets of ladders and fire fighter fatigue management the NSW Ambulance also attended to keep observations on firefighters. Shortly after another crew from narrabri in Pump 399 attended to help with the rotation of firefighters. Relay pumping was conducted from one appliance to another so pressure could be reached to the top of the silos. After 8 hours, 18 Firefighters and our Duty Commander from Tamworth we’re able to declare the fire was out and safe to hand over back to the site workers crews dismissed at 10:30pm See more

03.01.2022 Fire call 1345hrs today. Pumper 314 was called to a plane that had crashed off the runway at the Gunnedah Airport. The plane, a twin engine Merlin 3B, crashed while attempting to take off. The pilot ,who was the only occupant, walked away from the crash unscathed.... The 314 crew provided fire protection and dealt with a fuel leak. 02.01.2022 Investigations are underway into the cause of a house fire in Gunnedah. Fire Crews were called to a home in Linden Place just before 4 oclock yesterday aftern...oon to find the home well ablaze. Gunnedah Fire and Rescue Deputy Captain Andrew Johns says an incredible amount of smoke was a challenge for fire crews. "Very, very smoky. One of our more senior members whose been here more than 40 years says its probably one of the more smoky fires hes been to in terms of the whole street being enveloped in smoke," he said. "That represented a bit of a challenge you know trying to get our truck positions in the right spot so we could attack from clean air." Its the fourth fire in Gunnedah in the past month.
