17.01.2022 Due to the Catastrophic fire danger over the next two day, a TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared from MIDNIGHT TONIGHT! No fires if you see a fire which is unattended call 000 immediately.

17.01.2022 Fire and Rescue Crews have been on the front line across the state for the past few weeks battling bushfires. Often this requires firefighters to get in the dan...ger zone to protect life and property. Fire and Rescue NSW Station 048 Mortdale today were on the front line directly in front of a fire that was in danger of impacting houses. This put them in the line of fire of the massive C130 firebombing aircraft which managed to cover them and their truck in retardent. This is not something that you see every day and can be very dangerous for anyone caught under the retardent drop. Sometimes these things happen in a dynamic situation like a bushfire. Fire and Rescue firefighters continued the battle after the retardent drop and managed to save numerous houses.

17.01.2022 Our thoughts are with the Nsw Ambulance, following the loss of one of their own in a tragic accident in the Blue Mountains. Deepest Sympathy to her family, friends and colleagues.

16.01.2022 CHANGE YOUR CLOCK, CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARM. This Sunday the 6th of October see's Daylight Savings start in NSW. At 2:00am clocks are moved forward 1 hour to 3:00am. With the commencement of Daylight Savings time it's also a good reminder to check your smoke alarm is in good working order. The risk of a fatality in a home fire is halved if there is a properly installed & working smoke alarm in a house.

15.01.2022 Who’s going to win tonight’s NRL Grand Final? Planning on firing up the BBQ for the big game? Make sure you’ve checked it’s in good working order. Follow these simple checks: - ensure connections on hoses are tight with no leaks - never use a hose that has perished or is cracked and - check the expiry date before using a gas cylinder.... This will help ensure you BBQ safely and remember, keep looking when cooking. For more safety tips, visit: https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/page.php?id=9217 See more

12.01.2022 This is a great road rule something to push in parliament. To makes access to the scene faster, for those in need of our help.

09.01.2022 One of the non-emergency response activities that Career Firefighters at Kincumber perform on their 24 hour shifts is checking hydrants. Hydrants are a valve c...onnection to the water main which allows Fire & Rescue Firefighters to access a continuous flow of water in a fire emergency. Our fire truck carries only enough water to make an initial fire attack, so locating and getting a hydrant to work is one of a Firefighters’ priorities. Often Firefighters find that hydrants are hidden or not maintained and cannot be used at a fire emergency. You can help us by keeping the area around hydrants clear of any grass, vegetation, gardens, rubbish and dirt. Ensure no one parks over a hydrant at any time. By looking after the hydrant near your house or work you are helping firefighters in a fire emergency.

09.01.2022 Knowing how and when to call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency is a lifesaving skill. To help us learn more about calling Triple Zero (000) our Junior Firefight...er reporters ask our firefighters: what happens when you place a call? This week is NSW Education week, and as part of their theme of #LearningTogether, we'll be sharing more of our "Ask a Firefighter" series. When we learn together, we are safer together. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #EdWeek20

09.01.2022 We as Fire & Rescue NSW are so much more than just a fire service that puts the wet stuff on the red stuff. Fire fighting is only a fraction of what we do. Thanks to Hurstville fire station for making this short film.

06.01.2022 It is with great sadness that the planned annual SANTA RUN for Thursday, December 24th, has been cancelled. It has been a tough year and we have been working hard to bring Santa to our communities while being covid safe. Unfortunately with the current Covid situation changing daily, including current unfolding local cases, we have to follow all health advice to protect not just ourselves, but Santa Claus, and the community.... We have looked at alternatives, however, safety is our number one concern. We all hope that 2021 is better than 2020 and Santa can join us again next year. We would like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of the kids for next years Santa run, bigger and better than ever.

06.01.2022 A conversation can change a life which is why representatives from agencies across Australia have shared their stories to promote a simple message: ‘We’re alway...s there to help.
