16.01.2022 SOLAR PANEL FIRES | We are urging residents with solar panels to remain aware and vigilant after an influx in solar panel fires this year. This footage was obta...ined from a neighbour in Glenwood who called Triple Zero (000) after noticing a house nearby had solar panels alight. This was one of six solar panel fires that Fire and Rescue NSW attended in the past week alone. These statistics show solar panel fires are up 20 percent compared to last year and continuing to rise. Isolation switches appear to be causing almost half of solar panel fires, so it is vital to ensure solar panels are installed and regularly maintained by a professional and that systems comply with Australian Standards. Always do a licence check with NSW Fair Trading before any installation and wiring takes place. This can be found at https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels. #MoreThanFire #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #PreparedForAnything

04.01.2022 Today we held an intimate yet social distanced ceremony to reveal the Geoffrey Keaton and Andrew O’Dwyer Memorial Playground at Telopea Park in Buxton to the fa...milies of the hero’s that lost their lives fighting to save our community. In attendance were the families of Geoff and Andrew, their Captain and crew from Horsley Park Rural Brigade, Picton CWA, Wollondilly Shire Council Representatives including Mayor Robert Khan and Councillor Matthew Deeth, Rural Fire Service Officers including Commissioner Rob Rogers, Superintendent Martin Surrey and Area Commander Simon J Davis, and of course, a team from the Buxton Rural Fire Brigade crew. Today was an incredibly special and emotional day. It was especially touching to see the children of these families enjoying the playground built in the name of their dads, uncles, sons, cousins and brothers. Thank you to all that attended and to all that made this possible in the first place. The official opening to the public will be in December where the journey of this amazing memorial will be shared
