22.01.2022 APPRECIATION MONDAY Recently two firefighters attached to 301 Glenbrook were recognised for their service to the local community. Firefighter Gary McNicol received his National Medal and Firefighter Brian Goodhart was awarded his first clasp for his National Medal. ... The National Medal is Australia’s most awarded civilian medal and recognises the long and diligent service by members of government and voluntary organisations. It is awarded after 15 years of diligent service by members of the Australian Defence Force, Australian police forces, fire and ambulance services. A clasp is awarded for each additional ten years service. We congratulate both Brian and Gary for their recognition to the community but also to their families as they have also been a part of the 25 and 15 years service of these two firefighters.

21.01.2022 Last week firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 059 Eastwood were on their way back from grabbing lunch when a driver lost control of their car and crashed into a wall and nearby cars. The crew sprung into action and scooped up a lady standing near by. This is their story.

20.01.2022 Earlier this week some of our firefighters had the opportunity to conduct some training at the Emergency Services Academy. The opportunity to use such great facilities and learning new techniques was greatly appreciated.

19.01.2022 **VOLUME WARNING** A cool feature of the newly released iOS 14 is an accessibility feature for the hearing impaired called ‘Sound Recognition’ which will bring ...up a notification on screen when your device hears a specific event. This is handy if the user has a Bluetooth hearing aid or similar alert device. To enable, go to: settings > accessibility > sound recognition > select ‘on’ and what sounds you want alerts for (smoke alarms, fire alarms etc) This feature is useless without a working smoke alarm. Remember: only a working smoke alarm saves lives. - #frnsw #firerescue #PreparedForAnything #protectingtheirreplaceable #MoreThanFire #fire #rescue #hazmat #firefighter #firefighting #firefighterlife #emergencyservices - #australia #newsouthwales #oberon #centralwest #iphone11promaxphotography - Fire and Rescue NSW Oberon Council Oberon Business and Events Nadine Morton - Journalist

16.01.2022 Last bushfire season was long, tiresome and difficult for fire services. But also people like photojournalist Nick Moir who recently won a Walkley Award for his work covering the bushfires for the Sydney Morning Herald. Tomorrow night Nikon Australia is hosting a web event by Nick Moir with some of the team meeting at the station to hear about his experiences and the stories behind his images. If you are interested as well head over to Eventbrite and register for the event.... Photo credit: Nick Moir (Instagram @nampix)

16.01.2022 The temperatures are set to drop across NSW. Don't let your standards! A fire can take hold in 3 minutes, it only takes seconds to prevent one. Frayed or damage...d cords can start a fire. If you have an electric blanket on your bed check that it's in good working order before using it tonight. 08.01.2022 Things are a bit different twelve months later.

07.01.2022 Another farewell from the team at 301 Glenbrook. Today is the final day of Firefighter Roberts or simply ‘Robbo’ after serving just over 8 years with Fire & Rescue NSW. Firefighter Roberts was integral in recent years of making our Open Days the best using his contacts throughout the community to get some amazing displays to join us helping us engage with our community. The community engagement and support is what Firefighter Roberts has truly appreciated during his time at... 301 Glenbrook. The 2013 Springwood Fires is etched in the memory of Firefighter Roberts as houses were lost while the crew was responding from Glenbrook. From not only all of us at 301 Glenbrook but the community as well we thank Firefighter Roberts for his commitment and all he has done.

05.01.2022 Tomorrow your clock changes. So why not your smoke alarm batteries and why not test your smoke alarm??
