20.01.2022 Today we performed a PIP (pre incident plan) at Airds of Lochinvar. This gives us thorough knowledge of the building fire safety systems and the location of equipment that we need to access in the case of a fire. This information is saved and available through our MDT (mobile data terminal) so that en-route to a fire call we have all the relevant information at our finger tips. #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #PreparedForAnything #MoreThanFire #FRNSW

16.01.2022 EAST MAITLAND | Multiple Fire and Rescue Stations from the Newcastle Region including Fire and Rescue NSW Station 374 Maitland Fire & Rescue NSW Station 455 Rut...herford Newcastle Fire Station Fire and Rescue NSW Station 382 Morpeth and Fire And Rescue NSW Station 454 Tarro responded to a house fire early this morning and while the house was totally destroyed by fire, there is a happy ending to this tail. Six residents had managed to self-evacuate when crews arrived however, the family dog, Betty, was still trapped inside the home. Thinking the worst, firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Towards the end of operations, with the structure badly compromised, crews noticed Betty moving through the rubble of the second story towards a balcony. Firefighters were able to use a ladder platform to lift Betty safely from the balcony and into the arms of her worried owners. Betty was very happy to be rescued and is being treated by the local veterinary clinic but is expected to make a full recovery. #MoreTheFire #PreparedForAnything #DogRescue

09.01.2022 There has been a Total Fire Ban declared today! But what does this actually mean? There is always a little bit of confusion around what we can and can’t do around Total Fire Bans. When a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN) is declared this means as the public we must; Have NO fires in the open for cooking or camping.... NO welding or grinding to be conducted outdoors, NO barbecues using solid fuel such as wood, charcoal or heat beads. NO lighting fires in the open. Farmers should reconsider any tractor work/slashing on their properties. We can still use gas and electric BBQs as long as it is controlled by an adult and a continuous water source is nearby (e.g garden hose). If you see a fire please report it to 000 Immediately! #preparedforanything #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

09.01.2022 || Car Fire || 0522hrs, 3rd of January Yesterday morning CP455 & HT455 responded to reports of a vehicle fire in Rutherford. On arrival crews found a car well alight and got to work extingushing the fire before returning to station. The car was completely destroyed & police are investigating.... In the video you will see the reaction of hot magnesium and water. Magnesium reacts with water to produce hydrogen. The magnesium vapour produced when it burns, reacts extremely quickly due to the high temperature, This produces heat very rapidly and when water is added to the mix can cause the explosive-like reaction. #Preparedforanything #FRNSW Fire and Rescue NSW NSW Police Force
