18.01.2022 Police investigate suspicious house fire Western Region Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a house fire at Broken Hill at the weekend. Ab...out 1.45pm on Saturday (17 October 2020), emergency services attended a property on Sulphide Street after reports of a fire. On arrival officers found the unoccupied house alight. The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW; however, it caused significant damage. Officers from Barrier Police District established a crime scene and commence inquiries to determine the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious. Anyone who may have information that could assist should contact police at Broken Hill Police Station, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.

13.01.2022 Firefighters from 238 Station - Broken Hill and 239 Station - Broken Hill South were kept busy Saturday afternoon at the scene of a house fire in Sulphide Stree...t. Unfortunately due to the strong wind conditions the neighboring house was also impacted by the fire. Due to the quick actions of firefighters the damage to the neighboring property was minimized. No residents were injured as they had evacuated before Firefighters arrived. The house where the fire started has been totally destroyed by the fire. Broken Hill Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire. If we could take a moment to remind people in the vicinity of an incident to maintain awareness of their surroundings so that they don’t inadvertently block access to the scene for responding emergency services, that would be appreciated. 09.01.2022 You’ve got to be kitten me, once again Fire and Rescue NSW helped to avoid cat-astrophe with a fur-milliar incident involving a curious cat un-fur-tunately stuc...k behind a wardrobe. Kikito the cat was purr-plexed when the crew from Ashfield Fire Station had to unscrew the wardrobe from the wall and move it so Firefighter Nick could purr-sausively scope him out. It was a paws-itive result for all involved with Kikito now best fur-ends with the firefighters. *This photo was taken while our firefighters responded to an incident. Our firefighters are committed to keeping you safe and follow strict social distancing when they are not responding to an incident.
