25.01.2022 Whats the most annoying sound you can think of? If you can top these 10 DSU's going off a the same time you'd be doing well! The video below demonstrates the noises that are made when the Distress Signal Unit (DSU) goes into alarm mode. All jokes aside, the DSU that is located on our Breathing Apparatus (BA) can be a life saver. This alarm is trigged when there is no movement detected and could possibly indicate that a firefighter is non responsive or down... either that or ...we haven’t quite got the right hip shake going on. We were visited last night at drill by the BA truck and Instructor James Fletcher to refresh us on our BA equipment as well as our search & rescue and communication skills.

24.01.2022 Arriving home late yesterday, Tom Batho has been on the 4th wave of strike teams, deployed to the snowy mountains. Day 1- tasked to Adaminaby to monitor fire activity and property protection and familiarisation. Then tasked to Thredbo to check h...otspots at Pilot lookout on the Alpine Way. Day 2- Perisher and Charlottes Pass briefing on alpine region fire fighting with local captain. Following into Numeralla, to the Good Good Fire for blackout on containment lines. Day 3 - Continuation of attention to Good Good Fire containment lines along with property protection on peak view road. Glad to have you home Tom! Also a big thank you to the other crews who have helped throughout the deployments.

24.01.2022 With such a ferocious fire season already upon us. A joint drill with our brothers and sisters from the RFS Braefield/Dury only seems appropriate.

19.01.2022 2019, you have been a tough and trying year for not only us as firefighters, but for our town, our shire, our state and our country. We hope you all get to enjoy a day, whether it be a day off work or a day watching the clock, or a day for religious beliefs or a day for food eating beliefs (our favourite!) because everyone deserves a little piece of reprieve. Merry Christmas all, and bring on 2020 - the year of many rains!!

17.01.2022 We want to send out a huge Fire thank you to our newest recruit friend Tom! Not very often are we all together so Tom might have thought he was the lucky one to snag a photo, but in reality it was us to be lucky enough to meet Tom! Thanks for stopping by and making our day

16.01.2022 Happy belated birthday to US !! !! 100 years old but still only 100 years young It was 100 years ago yesterday that Quirindi Fire Brigade became operational (1 January 1920). The brigade originally occupied a shed behind the Council Chambers before moving into the purpose built station, pictured here, a few years later.... Thanks for the history Museum of Fire #PrettyDarnCool #Quirindi429 #FireRescueFamily #OldiesButGoodies

13.01.2022 The last week has been a busy one for Pumper 429 with calls ranging from ALARM OPERATING and GRASS FIRE to our call today for BUILDING FIRE. Whatever the call may be, we can be rest assured that our fellow first responders like NSW Ambulance and NSW Police won’t be far away to assist if needed. Although they do it without hesitation, their assistance, like helping with traffic control during the call in Werris Creek today, enables us to focus on the job at hand without the added worries. An absolute bunch of great humans that we appreciate very much - Thank you ! !

13.01.2022 The Quirindi Court House was completely destroyed by fire just after midday on 10 May 1929. All records and property stored in the building were lost, but aided... by favourable winds, the brigade was able to contain the fire to the single building which saved the neighbouring Post Office and Police Station. The ferocity of the fire did however blister the paintwork on the post office building. The brigade reportedly had no hope of saving the courthouse once the fire began as the building was constructed of wood. This weeks #FlashbackFriday comes from the book produced by the Museum of Fire's Heritage team to commemorate 100 years of Fire and Rescue NSW Station 429 Quirindi #Quirindi Fire and Rescue NSW #FRNSW #Firefighters

13.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun... and in the morning We will remember them.

12.01.2022 Call out received at 10:53pm to assist with a broken down locomotive in the tunnel at Ardglen. Quirindi 429 with Murrurundi 390 on breathing apparatus assisting with the safe removal of the train from the tunnel. The train was left with train operators and lines were expected to be closed for a time to allow for required maintenance. Returned to station 1:54am

11.01.2022 Pump 429 was called to a caravan on fire this morning at 00:10am. The occupant was lucky to get out in time before the flames started to take hold and the heat was quickly removed by our crew in BA. Its a timely reminder that having working smoke alarms save lives even in caravan, motor homes and sleeping areas!

11.01.2022 We want to send out a MASSIVE thank you to the amazingly talented bunch of little legends and teachers at our local St JOSEPH PRIMARY SCHOOL who have treated us with some wonderful art that we have proudly put on show in our front window. For a lovely gesture of thanks like this we couldn’t be more appreciative to be apart of this community, although we should be the ones sending the thanks

11.01.2022 What a day! Sending out a big thank you to those that helped us celebrate our 100 Years of service last Wednesday. All current members were in attendance as well as some of the retired previous members who still fit in like they never left! We were lucky enough to have special guests Commissioner Paul Baxter, Senior Chaplain Lyndsay Smith, Michael Johnsen MP, LPSC Deputy Mayor Paul Moules & Councillors Doug Hawkins & Ian Lobsey along with Len Waters who performed the Welcome ...to Country. Another big thank you to those that are low to the ground with us. Those that walk the line and get the job done by our sides Zone and Duty Commanders Tom Cooper and Peter Nugent, NSW Ambulance, NSW Police, and our local RFS VRA & SES crews - Absolute legends, Thank you. We also appreciate the lovely history that was provided by Qurindi Historical Society and Museum of Fire in Penrith as well as the lovely crew at Tamworth Classic Fire Engines who brought down their amazingly restored fire engines. Bring on the next 100 ! See more
