21.01.2022 During Safety Courses and at other times I am often asked about police knocking on your door to do an inspections of your secure storage facilities. There are two times under the Weapons Act when police can make those unannounced inspections of secure storage. An inspection may take place after a licence application has been lodged but before the licence has been decided.... A similar situation exists with a PTA application. An inspection may take place after a PTA application has been lodged but before the PTA has been decided. As far as I can see there is nothing in the Act which requires the police to give notice of their intention to conduct an inspection. So just be aware that if you have lodged an application for a licence or a PTA you could receive an unannounced visit from the local constabulary to inspect your secure storage facilities. 15.01.2022 I conduct Safety Courses on the first Sunday of each month at Leyburn range. Courses cover AB firearms. Others C D H and M (crossbows) are covered by giving me a call beforehand. 08.01.2022 HELP PLEEEAAASE A couple of weeks ago I published an advert for Safety Courses through Facebook. It was approved and ran for about three days, then I was told that approval had been withdrawn because ‘Your advert promotes the sale of ammunition, firearms, paintball guns, BB guns or other weapons, including knives, daggers, swords, bows, arrows, knuckle dusters and nunchucks.’ On enquiry I was then told ‘It looks like the landing page URL being used in your ad is against F...acebook's Advertising Policies. Ads mustn't be explicitly promoting weapon sales.’ That has been the end of discussion. No further responses from Facebook after many attempts to find out exactly what I can do to rectify the problem. I don’t understand this URL issue; I don’t have a website. I have done a bit of an online search seems this is not an uncommon problem, but no one has a solution I can follow. Can anyone help please? Thanks, Rob.
