25.01.2022 We thought things were ‘safer’ and then suddenly they felt on shaky ground again. If you’re feeling unsettled with the way the world is right now and your place in it - might be a tightness in your chest or just a heightened sensitivity to noise or news or things people say / how you read their expressions - maybe its time to help your nervous system out. Here are a few quick hacks that might help regulate your system. In times like these, doing big, long, complicated things might seem a leap too far, but just one small thing can make a big difference to how you feel! Have a great weekend!

25.01.2022 Enjoy your weekend

25.01.2022 First day of Spring! And I feel like the one thing that Spring brings is hope and the promise of life to come. So if things are feeling tough where you are, look for the small signs of hope around you...they’re starting to bud and bloom everywhere

24.01.2022 I’ve been procrastinating writing this post because it means that our long looked-forward-to holiday in South Africa is really and truly over! And post-holiday blues are REAL! And my head is still stuck in the sand over the fact that school goes back next week and real life commences again in full force. But, it was an amazing holiday! Not only reconnecting in very meaningful ways with many family and friends, but also being able to show our children around the country of ou...r birth and their heritage. Now I feel rejuvenated and excited about what lies ahead in 2020! I think the other thing that has felt different about starting this new year is that it’s NOT the new year that I’m *finally* going to crack the diet code and lose those last 5/10 kg. And I wonder how my Facebook audience feel about a personal trainer who is not using the start of the new year, or the new decade for that matter with all the latest diet / 8 week challenge/ ‘new year, new you’ spiels possible to throw at you? (Be aware that I DON’T mean, not working on yourself or striving for improved health markers.) It’s so tempting to be lured in by those promises and I have been, time and time again. But if I’m true to myself, I would be a big fake if I tried to encourage you to do any of those things this year, because I don’t believe they bring long term results and life-long happiness. My new year is different this time because I’m doing something I had never tried until a few months ago and that is: being compassionate with myself. It’s not very marketable and it’s not very sexy and I can’t promise you the world or your last 10 kilos, but it’s helped changed my thought processes and my awareness enough that it has made some amazing differences in my life. It turns out that in the time that I have been putting these compassionate practices to use, I *have* actually lost 7kg (not a whiff of a diet in sight, I swear) and I feel better about my health and my body. But more than that, I have found a peace of mind and a feeling of being centred that is at the core of what has helped me with my work, family, relationships and regulating my emotions (less emotional eating!). So if you are looking for a little more groundedness, a little more than just losing weight as a goal this year, something broader and more expansive in scope in creating real mind-shifts and healthy habit changes, then I urge you to stick around. 2020 is the year that could BLOW your mind and I hope to be able to help you make that happen!

24.01.2022 Consuming more fibre is one of those healthy habits I’m making a concerted effort to reintroduce this Spring. Marzia of Life and Performance Nutrition does a great job explaining why it’s so essential and has a nifty snapshot of the foods that include fibre.

23.01.2022 A Friday afternoon funny for you I particularly liked the parental backflip move. I hope you really ‘feel it in your pantry’

23.01.2022 Covid Kilos Corona Kilos Lockdown kilos quarantine kilos... call them what you will but in this strange time in humanity’s history you may have found that you’ve gained a couple. What I want you to focus on in that sentence is ‘strange time in humanity’s history’ ie these are not normal times! So on Saturday I came to pull on my favourite pair of skinny jeans to go out *exciting* only to discover they were not ready to come out of isolation with me . I had a mome...nt of feeling sad, but did everything in my power to change my conditioned response which normally goes something like that’s bad! You’re useless! You better get on a diet to fix this quickly! and instead worked on a compassionate response which goes something like these are definitely not normal times! I have been under unusual stress with all the family at home together for so long! I’ve been in the kitchen and comfort cooking more! It’s probably time to reassess what’s in my pantry and plan some delicious, high vegetable content meals. Contrary to what you may think, compassion is not all about being kind and forgiving, it’s about a commitment to reducing suffering. And although your circumstances may not be your fault, they are your responsibility. Usually when my weight gets me down I feel self-conscious and withdrawn - a shame that I try to hide. On Saturday I was open to my friends about my jeans episode and able to laugh about it in a way that was light and didn’t make me feel bad about myself. Possibly because Corona kilos are a socially accepted phenomenon at this time, rather than me just struggling alone. But this week I’m planning lots of comforting soups packed with nutritious goodness and some healthy snacks for the pantry. It’s not my fault, but it’s my responsibility!

23.01.2022 Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while but ‘haven’t got round to it’ (I’m sure no one else can relate ) is to highlight the wonderful work of my dedicated clients and sharing this post is a perfect, timely place to start! Many of you may already know Rebecca Sparrow’s work, but if you don’t yet, go and check out her page and better yet if you have a tween / teen girl sign up for her online mother - daughter club! Bec is a specialist in the area of maintaining good re...lationships with your kids through the the sometimes challenging tween and teen years and she has plenty of good advice as well as resources to share to keep that connection strong. (Plus she always has FABULOUS book recommendations !) So check out her page and take advantage of the limited time pricing on her mother-daughter club. Thank you for the great work you do Bec!

23.01.2022 Covid19 protocol for Firebloom Fitness: classes are held outdoors anyway ! class sizes are small (< 20 people) we practice social distancing- keeping 1.5m apart from each other We bring our own mats and towels and water bottles... We don’t share equipment (including communal tissue box or bug spray ) during class equipment is sanitised after each class hand sanitiser is available for use before and after class if you’re feeling unwell, you are asked to stay away It seems that in this time of heightened anxiety people need each other :- the social connection, their regular exercise regime, their mental health relief and the outdoors more than ever! For this reason, I will continue to hold in-person classes unless advised otherwise. In the meantime, I’m honing my online delivery systems for those who can’t attend in person or in case all in-person contact ceases

22.01.2022 Happy to have people back to training in person again. Much more fun to train while chatting/ distracting each other!

22.01.2022 Starting Thursday 10 October , Brisbane City Council are sponsoring FREE Boxfit classes at Sherwood Arboretum from 6:30-7:15am as part of the Active & Healthy Parks program. Call Clare on 0432168667 to book in. Meet at the playground equipment. This is in addition to the free council Boxfit classes which will continue to be held at 10am on Tuesdays at Nixon Park, Oxley starting Tues 15 Oct. I look forward to welcoming you to a class soon!

22.01.2022 A client recently confessed that since the beginning of the year she has committed to exercising EVERY single day...even if only for 20 minutes. And she found that making that decision alone left her feeling more energetic and motivated. Sometimes the mental energy or tension of making a decision can leave you feeling drained, so why not ease that stress now and make a commitment to yourself regarding your exercise plans this week!

21.01.2022 Term3 is always the longest hardest slog and we kind of make it through by clenching our teeth, holding our breath and clinging on for dear life. Time now to undo all of that and rest. Enjoy your break whatever it is you are doing. #holidays #downtime #breakfromroutine #recharge #upthehappy #firebloomfitness #pt #brisbanept @jessrachelsharp

21.01.2022 Today in the USA they celebrate turkey day or Thanksgiving. We lived in and celebrated 3 Thanksgiving holidays in the US and it quickly came to be my favourite holiday. No religious connections or obligations, no gift buying or giving but the whole holiday centres around enjoying a delicious meal with loved ones ie connection with others and gratitude for what we already have in our lives. 1. Connection. In a world where more and more connections happen online and less face...-to-face, we are starved for real connection now more than ever. To have real, meaningful conversations with each other, where we read facial expressions, make eye contact and even physical contact, we are getting some of our fundamental human needs met. 2. Gratitude. Despite being told again and again that the more we have the happier will be (thanks consumerism! ...and I’m as guilty as the next person of jumping on that bandwagon!) of course the shine of the new wears off all too quickly and we feel that restless desire for the ‘next thing’ emerge. One of the best ways to still that restless urge is to begin by being aware of what you already have. The simple act of noticing and paying attention to the small things is one of the true paths to real happiness. So whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, I hope that you’ll consider how you can add some extra connection and gratitude to your lives today. PS Despite initial scepticism, I can confirm pumpkin pie is DELICIOUS and I will be making one today !!!

20.01.2022 Best way to start the weekend! Thanks tribe, awesome endorphins and laughs this morning #brisbanebootcamp #firebloomfitness #groupfitness #fridayfeels #corinda #jindalee #oxley

20.01.2022 A reminder to come along and enjoy a FREE Boxfit workout every Tuesday at 10am in Nixon Park, Oxley, sponsored by Brisbane City Council. Always a laugh and always a great workout! Call Clare on 0432168667 to book.

20.01.2022 When things feel uncertain and threatening, it’s helpful to remember and stick to the things that we do have control over. Brendon Burchard - Live. Love. Matter.

19.01.2022 Thanks to Brisbane City Council you have free access to 2 classes per week that are of the best ways to build strength and endurance as well as working on your cardio fitness and your core. Why not come and give one a go - all fitness levels welcome!

19.01.2022 This is not a scare-mongering post! And I know that time is a human construct and that the reason we often feel like we don’t have enough time is well, because we can actually never ‘have’ time! That being said, from January 1st 2020 we are going to start hearing music , reading books, wearing clothes etc that are of the ‘20’s! Weird to think about, because I will always think of the 20’s as the 1920’s #old . Until then, I’m definitely going to make the most of the last three months of this decade - there is plenty I want to do and it’s just helped me narrow my focus and motivated me to get a wiggle on.

18.01.2022 Happy Sunday I hope you take time today to do nothing and have a rest! Thanks to the always astute Michael Leunig for the cartoon & @colormehappii for the beautiful drawing.

17.01.2022 I don’t know about you, but our household has definitely reached the ‘this is bloody hard and we’re all sick and tired of each other’ phase of isolation. Time to check in on your mates and make sure they’re okay! And to do the small things that bring you joy - which often comes in the service of others. We’ve got to fight tooth and nail for our sanity and that of our fellow humans!

17.01.2022 To all the Boxfit participants at my Tuesday Nixon Park and Thursday Sherwood Arboretum classes, Council has made the decision to cease the classes until 30 June. I’m exploring the possibility of holding the class by Zoom video conferencing, so get in touch if you’re interested in that - 0432168667 Don’t stop exercising and keep in touch with people in your community in a safe way!

17.01.2022 Shoot me a message and I’ll send you a free 15 minute,full-body, body-weight workout to do at home - in your lounge room, in the backyard, with your family (or without them ) ...don’t forget, physical activity plays a key role in good mental health!

17.01.2022 On a normal Friday at this time I would be at Kingsford Terrace Corinda taking a group of ladies for some exercise. I give them some moves to help keep them fit, and keep their muscles and bones strong while they talk to me and tell me that this too shall pass when I share stories of my tween and teen! I miss those ladies and the camaraderie of the group, but here is a little something for them to remind them that I haven’t forgotten about them and I look forward to seeing them again once the threat of this pandemic is over...because this too shall pass I hope you all get to enjoy this gentle exercise routine.

17.01.2022 2021 GOALS!!! If those words have you shuddering in your boots (or wanting to hide in your pantry)...maybe you were all rearing to go and then a little 3-day lockdown got you disheartened and demotivated all over again when you realised a new year wasn’t about to change the face of the global crisis? Listen up! One thing I know for sure (thanks for the myriad of life lessons 2020!) is that there is so much in our lives that is out of our control. And what is in and out of ou...r control is constantly changing too. So my goals this year are to : 1. Be prepared to remain flexible. Not to get too hung up on any one particular course of action. If I don’t bend, I might break! 2. My success comes down to the small habits that make up my days and therefore my life. The old adage of ‘take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves’ is my motto. And a big sweeping statement like ‘I want to do more to reduce my environmental footprint’ is only useful if broken down further. (I love these small, but completely do-able steps outlined in the link below!) And if improving health and fitness is your goal, here are some micro habits to get you started: Get more sleep! Go to bed a half hour earlier and set your alarm to wake up at the same time every day get your exercise clothes out and ready the night before start small and work your way up. Gradually build up the time each day. make a date with a friend to exercise together- it will help keep you accountable and you’ll get the added benefit of the socialising don’t try and make too many changes at once, gradually build up those habits. Every time you achieve one of these little micro goals, you get a little hit of dopamine, and boom you’re on your way to creating habits that will change your days...and your life

17.01.2022 The only one to see out all those burpees and shuttle runs to the end Well done Belinda, that was quite the achievement this morning!

16.01.2022 It is so much more than exercise, isn’t it? And that’s why I feel the community & mental health benefits of group exercise are so HUGE and would very reluctantly give them up. However, with an hourly evolving situation, who knows when and if classes will continue face-to-face... in the meantime, prep your lounge room, download the Zoom App in your mobile device, get your mat and hand weights and lets get ready to take our fitness online!

16.01.2022 A little throwback to last week’s Ekka Day workout crew. Pink happy faces is what we like to see !

16.01.2022 When it’s birthday at boot camp we wear silly hats! Happy Birthday Angela Kim Sullivan and Kirsty George

16.01.2022 Yesterday was World Mental Health Day and I honestly believe the best way to remove the stigma is to TALK about it. We don’t seem to have a problem going to a doctor when we are sick, or taking our car to the mechanic when it needs fixing or, dare I say, starting a fitness regime when you need to improve your fitness So why do we find it SO hard to admit we might need help with our mental health - whether it’s the very deepest, darkest emotional suffering or periodic overwh...elm, anxiety or life just getting us down? Maybe we think that’s just how life is and we’re supposed to suck it up and cope? Maybe we don’t want to admit weakness? Maybe it’s because we think we’re the only ones? It’s always such a relief when someone else says me too and you both feel less alone. So in the spirit of sharing... I have had one very dark mental period in my life and then other fluctuations of feeling down or anxious or overwhelmed by work, parenting, and life in general over the years (in my admittedly otherwise very happy and privileged life!) And besides using exercise as one of the preferred tools in my arsenal to maintain my mental health, I have also periodically made use of psychologists, therapists and counsellors. I don’t feel ashamed about it, but it’s just not something that’s often talked about. I have kept returning to it as a tool, because it’s mostly been very useful and improved the quality of my mental health and therefore my life. The second image is a repost from a therapist’s Insta page and if you are wondering about what a therapist does/ doesn’t do, I found this to be very accurate in my experience. If it’s something you or someone you love has been contemplating trying, I hope you do...and that it’s as positive an experience for you as it has been for me Some resources that you might find useful are: Lifeline : 131114 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 Australian Psychological Society to find a psychologist that could be the right fit for you: www.psychology.org.au 1st quote thanks to Jay Shetty 2nd thanks to Madeleine Shaver, LCSW, MAC

15.01.2022 If you need a little smile on your dial (and a little ear worm) this morning...you’re welcome ....

15.01.2022 Over 60 and looking for a fitness class to keep you active? Look no further! I run classes for over 60’s at Kingsford Terrace retirement village in Corinda and would love to have you along to give it a try . We work on building strength in arms, legs and core, as well as improving balance, increasing flexibility and some cardio fitness too. Look at all those variations on the plank - modifications for varying levels of fitness, ability, flexibility or injury means you’re stil...l working and you’re still getting a benefit and the class sizes are small enough that I can offer these variations, including if you want more of a challenge and higher intensity. My aim in offering these classes is to get people moving more freely and building some strength so they feel more capable in their daily tasks as well as stimulating the good mood chemicals in the brain and building social connections. I’m there Mondays 8:30-9:15am and Wednesdays and Fridays 11-11:45am and sessions cost $10 each. All local community members welcome! Why not come and give it a try? Feel free to just turn up, or call Clare on 0432168667 for more information.

14.01.2022 There's Good in Store Brené Brown For anyone who needs to hear this, this Monday morning!

14.01.2022 An interesting detail from the Mindbody wellness survey: For people whose primary motivator to exercise is weight-loss, it turns out they exercise less than once a week, while those who are primarily motivated by wanting to be strong and fit and feeling better mentally, exercise 5 or more times a week! Your weight is likely to fluctuate throughout your lifetime, whereas exercising is a healthy lifestyle habit (both physical and mental health) regardless of what your weight is. Interesting thought . Maybe its time to reassess what motivates you to exercise if you’re wanting to make it a more consistent habit.

14.01.2022 Post workout sanitising! Glen 20 + sunshine Have a great weekend everyone

14.01.2022 Belle&Bear has it spot on! To all the mammas who exercise with me.... I see you. I see all your sacrifices, I see you modelling great behaviours, I see you putting your family first and I see you worrying that you’re still not doing enough or doing it right. Well, I’m telling you you are enough and you’re doing your best and your kids know that feeling called LOVE!

14.01.2022 If it’s hot, don’t stop! Work around the heat - avoid the hottest times of the day - pick shadier spots with a breeze if possible - don’t just drink water, pour some on your skin to help with ‘aggressive cooling’ - stop if there are signs of heat exhaustion like muscle cramps, headaches, nausea and light-headedness

14.01.2022 These are trying times to say the least and most of us are having to navigate things we’ve never had to navigate before, including working from home, schooling at home, being around our families for looooong stretches of time and not being able to go to our local community hubs like cafes, gyms and movies with friends- the touchstones of many communities, where we feel safe and seen and loved. The way we each individually react and deal with these changes is likely to vary ...greatly. Now more than ever, we are going to need COMPASSION- for ourselves and each other as we navigate our new normal. I think it’s best to assume that everyone is trying their best and doing their best with whatever set of circumstances they find themselves in - hard to do when fear and anxiety run rampant. So my plea to you is have a little extra understanding and empathy at this time. Take a pause. Respond thoughtfully rather than reacting on the fly...especially on social media. And these are my wishes for all of us... See more

13.01.2022 Happy International Women’s’ Day! Grateful today for the shoulders of those women who came before us and fought for the things we now take for granted. But also grateful for the wisdom and insight that knows we have further to go and that it’s up to us to do our part for the future generations. #eachforequal : an equal world is an enabled world. I was privileged to listen to Elizabeth Gilbert speak on Friday at the Brisbane Business Chicks event and her words of wisdom to us ...centred on being more relaxed (a revolutionary idea for women!). It is the most relaxed person in the room, who ultimately has the most power and freedom, she convinced us, because they can see more clearly and more broadly than those who are wound up in anxiety, worry and control. Surrender and trust that in the words of her cowboy friend Richard from Texas, its all gonna be alright! See more

12.01.2022 If you need a little something to keep you moving, check out this leg workout If you’re a beginner, rest where you need to and modify the exercises to not go as deep into your squats and lunges and remove the jump from the ‘hit the floor’ exercise. It’s going to get your heart rate up and possibly create that little shake in your legs. Why not do it as a family and take turns rotating through each of the exercises like a circuit?! Have a good weekend everyone!

12.01.2022 I look forward to offering these two very different style free weekly classes in our beautiful local parks on behalf of Brisbane City Council starting : 1. TOMORROW, Wednesday 15 July 9am - Gentle exercise for seniors near Simpson’s playground in Graceville 2. NEXT WEEK, Tuesday 21 July 9:30am- Boxfit (shadow boxing and bodyweight intervals) at Nixon Park, Oxley Call Clare on 0432168557 for more information or I look forward to seeing you there! Please bring your own towel and water bottle!

12.01.2022 Last couple of weeks of Boxfit classes for the term! Come and join these superheroes for a free workout that packs a punch - all thanks to Brisbane City Council. 11.01.2022 Okay friends, this is the GOLD!!! When you’re next on a long drive or doing housework or on your commute, have a listen to this podcast. Habits make our lives easier. They make certain behaviours automatic for us, so that our decision-making, conscious thought energy can go on the things that we need it to. But not all our habits serve our goals or make us happy, so how do we go about changing or replacing them? Take a listen for some really valuable, step by step advice. ... Hint It might be easier/less arduous than you think...and the results might take longer than you’d like (little reality check here!)...but its LASTING change. See more

11.01.2022 A little Friday funny for your amusement! Enjoy the long weekend

10.01.2022 A little mantra to help ground you during your busy week.

10.01.2022 7 years ago vs today! The words remain true all these years later...it’s my clients who motivate and inspire me- I feel so lucky to have such a rewarding job!!! Merry Christmas !

10.01.2022 Mindbody have released a report on the fitness trends in Australia for 2020 based on the Wellness Index survey they conducted. I’ll share a few more nuggets in the coming weeks, but here’s a summary of the findings ....and we like #2 in particular - group fitness & strength training for the win !

09.01.2022 To those looking for some more ways to move their bodies gently, with some muscle and bone building resistance and with limited space, I hope you enjoy this!

09.01.2022 Here’s a little upper body workout for you to get your week started! 2 or 3 rounds of 12 reps each: - hand release push-ups - pec dec - chest fly ... - lying tricep extensions - tricep dips - standing tricep kickbacks Options are to do the push-ups against a wall if you don’t want to get down on the floor. Chest fly can also be done seated instead of lying down and dips can be done off the side of a secure chair or bench for an increased challenge. Let me know how you get along!

09.01.2022 Although Boxfit is not viable under current social distancing protocol, Brisbane City Council are still encouraging community members to stay active in their beautiful parks. From next Tuesday, 25 May, until the end of the school term I’ll be holding a FREE weekly body weight interval training class in Nixon Park Oxley from 10-10:45am, sponsored by Brisbane City Council. Places are limited to 10 participants, so please call or text Clare to book in on 0432168667.

09.01.2022 How beautiful is this agapanthus bloom spotted outside of Kingsford Terrace Corinda this morning! Did you know that Firebloom Fitness does over 60’s exercise classes there 3 times a week that are open to non-residents? Mon 8:15am and Wed & Fri 10:30am. At the 45 minute pay-as-you-go classes, we work on building and maintaining fitness, strength and balance at your own pace and level of fitness. ... 09.01.2022 Congratulations Angela Kim Sullivan on getting your daughter through school. Enjoy the celebrations , but we’re very happy to have her back working out with us!

08.01.2022 A little throwback photo to the weekend I spent in Melbourne just before lockdown - the first weekend EVER spent away with just my mom and two sisters! So happy Mother’s Day to my mom and sisters! And to my clients who I have the pleasure of training- one of the privileges of my job is that you share your stories and your lives with me, so I know how much you personally give to your children and families. I think you’re all amazing! And I’m thoroughly impressed and humbled in the way you choose to model and prioritise fitness as part of a healthy mind and body. So cheers to you all, I hope you are thoroughly spoilt today!

08.01.2022 Come and join me in Simpson’s Playground at 9am next Wednesday, 15 July for weekly gentle exercise for seniors, sponsored by Brisbane City Council’s Active & Healthy GOLD programme! We’ll be doing some strength exercises, working on balance and stretching for improved flexibility and movement. I look forward to seeing you there!

07.01.2022 I love this poem and the beautiful painting. I think its timely with people heading off to the beach to remember that you are perfect just the way you are! So throw on that swimsuit or bikini and go and have some fun!! Watercolours by Rachel

07.01.2022 I'm sharing this because I believe its important. I WAS a teenage girl and now I HAVE a teenage girl and I'm well aware that it's a mine field topic! What most people acknowledge is that it (almost) always comes from a place of wanting to protect your daughter from the cruelty of the world, but often comes out as misguided or misdirected or downright harmful in the long term. What I like about this blog post is that it has some good solid suggestions of what to do when we feel helpless, yet want to protect our daughters.

05.01.2022 Who’s ready for a 15 minute full-body workout with only 3 exercises? There are some tips to help you maintain good form, and they can be done with or without weights. To turn down the intensity, take breaks as you need them and to increase the challenge, take as few breaks as possible. Let me know how you get on! https://www.dropbox.com//3%20exercises%20in%2015%20minutes

05.01.2022 I couldn’t love this more. Fitness is evolving and there will be a style of fitness to suit you! Over the years of being a fitness professional I have adjusted my rhetoric and you may notice the absence of phrases that include ‘exercising to earn your food or work off the calories you ate’ in my classes too. I believe my purpose is to help you move your body in a way that feels good to you and makes you feel good. Because I believe the ‘feel good’ part is that when you enjoy how you are moving and when you feel strong, able and confident, it positively affects your mental health.

05.01.2022 We have been known to bust out a few 80's aerobics moves on a Friday morning !

05.01.2022 Brené Brown knows her stuff. I must have been channeling her when I planned our back workout today! So in our workout we flexed our strong back muscles and now we head into the rest of the week to work on our soft front and wild heart

04.01.2022 School is back tomorrow!!! Part and part !! But what is good is that its time to focus on YOU. Your health, your goals, your fitness, your sanity, your joy! For fitness classes that combine a bit of all of those things, come and give a class a try. Class Timetable below shows various classes and locations - there’s something for everyone. All fitness levels welcomed and modifications are possible because class sizes are kept small to allow for personal attention. Contact Clare for a free trial now 0432168667!

04.01.2022 If you’re creating or following at-home workouts at the moment, it would be useful to use an interval timer application on your phone. This is the one I use - it’s free, intuitive to use and can be used to create very simple or complex workout intervals. But there tons of them out there - and many of them free (this one is) so go and have a little browse on your App Store!

03.01.2022 During times of such incredible change and overwhelm, where each of us is adjusting to living our lives differently, taking on big projects or goals - even exercise, can feel like too much. I’d like to encourage you to forget about all or nothing thinking - eg I don’t have the time/energy for an hour’s workout, so I’m just going to forget about it for today. Move to an always something mindset where you do small manageable chunks - maybe that’s moving your body for 10 or 15 minutes. You’ll feel better for moving your body, taking a break from sitting and you’ll get the dopamine hit from doing SOMETHING rather than nothing. Stay tuned - I’ll be putting together some 10/15 minute videos for you and your families to keep everybody moving and feeling good!

03.01.2022 It was freezing cold as we worked out this morning, but aside from feeling good moving our bodies, we were rewarded with this beautiful dawn

03.01.2022 Self Care Sunday challenge for you!Ironically, sometimes even self care can feel too hard, too much work or too overwhelming. I like this challenge because instead of trying to do all the things, all the ‘shoulds’, tick all the boxes, you get to pick a few and be done...and hopefully feeling better than before you began. And if your full name feels too hard, start with your nickname ! Park your judgement, self-criticism and self-shaming and just enjoy! Happy Sunday everyone the_fabstory

02.01.2022 I spent a fair amount of time toward the end of last year diving deep into the concept of compassion, both for self and others. And one of the key things I learnt was to ask yourself the question what do I need right now? Or how can I be of help to myself right now? Or what matters to me right now?. It means it brings you back to this very present moment, and crucially WITHOUT JUDGEMENT you proceed to answer that question. You allow yourself to feel the feelings of it, you reassure and encourage yourself about it and then you act upon it. Acting might actually mean taking a rest, reading, going for a walk, talking to a friend, spending time with your family etc. Whatever comes up for you in this moment, allow it and honour it.

02.01.2022 Chair stretches! This is for all of those of you isolating at home, inside, finding yourselves sitting more than normal. Do these stretches periodically through the day when you need a break. They are also great for:... - loosening up the joints and muscles if you’re feeling tight - if you have limited mobility - if you find getting up & down from the floor tricky I hope you find this helpful! Subscribe to this page and share with your friends for more short workout videos to get you through these trying, isolating times!!!

01.01.2022 I LOOOVE Spring! In my garden it is heralded by the sweet and nostalgic scent of Jasmine ! I feel filled with energy and motivation to get things done. Looking around my home, it’s like the blinkers of Winter have come off and I can see all the piles of stuff that have accumulated that no longer serve us. So yes, a literal spring clean is on the cards...but also a figurative one. I have been assessing what habits I have slipped into that are not serving me well anymore and r...evisiting those habits I had forgotten about that I know give me a physical and mental lift. Of all the coaching and mentoring I’ve received over the years, it’s useless if what I’ve learned is not put into practice. So I’m dusting off my notes and journals, revisiting and reminding myself what worked before and I’m taking ACTION! Nothing more motivating than taking that first step (my first step was booking a remedial massage for myself - one of the beneficial practices I’d let slip.) How do you feel about Spring? What are you planning to dust off in the coming weeks to serve you better? See more
