19.01.2022 What was once an everyday event for Garry happened today. He had to remember how to pack for a business trip and flight to head North. Over the next 10 days he will be travelling from Cairns to Mackay providing fire safety and emergency planning services at eight locations for two of our long term clients, Menzies Aviation and Sugar Research Australia. Keep an eye out for his posts as he travels.

19.01.2022 Dear all, Over the past few months, its become clear that we must make major changes to our business to survive. With the current COVID-19 situation in Australia, we are conscious of the continuing effect on the operation of our business and associated financial implications. We are currently experiencing a loss of business and in the long term predict a fall in business of between 40% and 50%. It is difficult to see an end to this, but we are planning for a new Fire EMT hav...ing to operate in a different environment. Due to loss of business this means we will have to become a smaller business for a while allowing for a more streamlined efficient operation. Today we are announcing a three-year recovery plan to guide us through the terrible crisis and towards better days. This involves some very difficult decisions that will impact staff, but it is aimed at making sure we ultimately protect the business as a whole and as many jobs as possible. We are utilizing the Job-keeper period to plan and implement this, whilst still chasing business to prevent loss. We still envisage a recovery period of 2 to 3 years to return to pre COVID-19 trade levels. The plan has three initial actions: 1.Right size the Companies workforce, fleet, and costs according to demand projections, with the ability to scale up as required. 2.Restructure to deliver ongoing cost savings and efficiencies across the business. 3.Recapitalize to grow and maintain the cash base to strengthen financial resilience through and beyond the pandemic. Tragically this means in the first stage some staff losses starting with the letting go of 66% of the casual workforce. As we progress through the year and the next stage of Job-keeper is assessed further job losses and/or hour reductions are envisaged. Two vehicles will be disposed of by October 2020. We will plan to relocate to smaller premises by September 2020. This sudden reversal of fortune is not what any of us envisaged but we will come back, the important thing is that we put ourselves in a position to come out the other side. We continue to work on pivoting our services to meet the new world we live in and thank our many clients/suppliers for their support. Lastly, from the bottom of my heart I thank the Fire EMT staff dedication and support, we are a dedicated team with a great product and will continue to be so. Regards Garry Dawson Managing Director

18.01.2022 An early start for Fire EMT and some Griffith University Nathan Students today. It was double figures on the gauge so a 6.30 AM exercise for one student residence. The second residence at Mount Gravatt Campus got a slight sleep in with a 7.30 alarm call. A fantastic effort by the resident wardens and students in clearing the facility.

14.01.2022 It was the turn of SRA Tully today as Garry was on day three of his Nth Qld tour. Well done to the staff as they responded to a fire in the office. We were able to spend time after the exercise to demonstrate how the smoke can travel through the office. The wardens closed doors as they evacuated, however the ducted air conditioning demonstrated how the smoke moved between offices. Wardens also had the opportunity to experience how disorientated you can become in a smoke filled environment and the tell tale warning sign to observe prior to opening a door during a fire evacuation. #firesafety #safety #wardeninstruction #evacautionexercise
