25.01.2022 The Country Fire Service has issued an emergency warning for a bushfire burning under severe weather conditions in the Eden Valley. (This pic, taken by the CFS Air Observer, shows the fire crossing Sanderston Rd) Police are urging motorist to stay away from Angas Valley and Ridley roads as emergency services fight the fire. The officer in charge of the Barossa Local Service Area, Chief Inspector Alex Zimmermann, appealed for people to stay away, especially ahead of a likely... wind change tonight. The roads are not closed at the time, but we may have to shut them as the fire moves, he said. We would urge everyone to stay away from the area and to obey the directions of emergency services. Millars Rd and Three Chain Rd have been closed to all traffic. CFS advises that this serious bushfire is burning out of control at Eden Valley and Sanderston in the South Mount Lofty Ranges near Rhine Park Road, Moss Smith Road, Pohl Road, Burton Road and Sanderston Road. The EDEN VALLEY fire is travelling in a south easterly direction towards Millars Road. However with the predicted wind change the fire may head towards Cambrai. There is a risk to lives and homes. The uncontrolled fire is burning in grass. The CFS advice is: Check and follow your bushfire survival plan. Take shelter when the fire arrives and protect yourself from the fires heat. Only leave now if the path is clear to a safe place. You should not enter this area as the roads may not be safe. Well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety. For information about bushfires, check the CFS website www.cfs.sa.gov.au or call the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361. The community can also get all the latest information from emergency services and other government agencies via AlertSA: http://www.alert.sa.gov.au/ or by tuning into our broadcast partner ABC local radio and ABC News, or other mainstream media outlets
