22.01.2022 Personal trainer alert Meet Gus one of three fantastic personal trainers Hey folks,... My name is Gus, I have been in the fitness industry professionally for the last 6yrs as a CrossFit Coach and PT. I retired from A grade rugby league in Newcastle in 2005 and stacked on the weight. Ballooning out to 120kg, round faced and no neck. I ate everything and anything but claimed I was healthy because I was playing 6 games of Oztag and refereeing a week. Enter my girlfriend of 2mths (now my wife) with the comment of let’s do a PT course. My reply was along the lines of look at me.... Fast forward 12mths, 21kg lighter and head full new knowledge with Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness. Skip another 2mths forward when I finally joined the local CrossFit gym, again thanks to Jodes. She had persisted for 14mths to get me to go. I took 3 classes, became hooked. Within 2wks wanted to become a Coach. 6yrs later I have gained a wealth of knowledge on many aspects of health and fitness. I had many amazing experiences, made many friendships and create an abundance of memories that I’ll treasure for ever. So guess you can say I owe all of this to Jodes. That is how I landed in the fitness industry but what keeps me in it is meeting people who want to improve their own lives. I love coaching/teaching people who want to learn. Nothing is better then when a member/client says something along the lines of - I didn’t know I could do that or Gus, thank you. At the end of the day my goal is to impart enough knowledge that the member/client only needs me for a check in every now and then. I love to learn and will keep learning myself so I can keep passing on the knowledge I learn. 19.01.2022 Group Class Descriptions Group classes with Tracey - Mondays can be a circuit with weights and/or body weight, Tabata rounds, pyramid workouts, workouts that focus on particular muscle groups such as glutes or core, boxing style workouts and some fun stuff like lucky dip workouts. Wednesday’s are a variety again with a focus more on low impact but always adjustable and always a blast. ... Classes varied each week but scalable and adjustable to suit all ages and fitness levels. Just bring a mat, water bottle and a smile Group classes with Monica are based on bodyweight exercises, exercises can be modified to match all fitness levels & injuries. It’s all about keeping your body moving & working to your maximum. Workout times for all classes range between 20 & 25min’s Monday’s are Tabata 20sec work / 10secs rest. Tabata is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program that has been scientifically proven to help increase endurance and performance for your aerobic (cardiovascular) and anaerobic (muscular) systems. Wednesday’s are a mixture of self paced & interval style workouts, with varying work & rest times. Guaranteed to get the heart rate up & your sweat on. Saturday’s - it’s all about the games, still a great workout with a little bit of fun. WOD with Gus will have you on before you know it. Be prepared to use of dumbbells, kettlebells, slam balls and what ever other odd object he can think of to mix it up. The WOD is different each day. The time domain ranges from 15-20mins. I’ve been interested in health and fitness since the age of 13 when I was inspired by my dad who embarked on health and fitness regime to improve his health markers. The results were amazing!!! At 13 however I was a body conscious teen who fell into the trap of overtraining and under eating. Without the right knowledge or guidance I struggled for years to get this balance right. I set out to educate myself eventually consolidating what I had learnt and so much more by becoming a Personal Trainer.
