18.01.2022 The Richmond birdwing butterfly is a rare and endangered native butterfly, with huge and beautiful wings The caterpillars basically only feed on one vine, the Richmond birdwing butterfly vine, so conservation efforts in its habitat corridor require that vine to grow to a large enough size that a female butterfly can detect it from far away. As part of the Land For Wildlife programme and Richmond Birdwing Conservation Network, the Moreton Bay Regional Council's Environmental Services provided 24 host vines which will be planted at Firestone Sanctuary so that this unique and gorgeous species has somewhere to breed in the near future
18.01.2022 The creek is looking beautiful after the rain! Some more weeding and planting will make it look even more beautiful, but it's already come a long way as a lot of lantana and giant devil's fig has been removed :)
