22.01.2022 FireWatch Australia has the early bushfire detection technology to make this insightful idea a reality. A National Bushfire Monitoring Network managed by a National Fire Monitoring Agency would be a world-class nation-building project, providing the experts with real-time data to predict and monitor bushfire threats and empower the emergency services agencies to act pre-emptively and prepare for future catastrophes.

12.01.2022 Great article in the AFR talking about the publics justifiable desire for information and connectivity in times of emergency. A National Bushfire Early Detection & Management Network would bring real-time information and situational awareness to the smartphones of people living in the bush, allowing them to feel safe and to make the best decisions about when the stay and when to leave. Anxiety is minimised when people can trust that the information they are getting is real...-time. Of course, its primary purpose is to empower the bushfire fighting authorities with immediate and accurate information to react instantly to a fire outbreak by deploying on-call firefighting aircraft and specialist firefighters to extinguish the blaze before it gets out of control. Localised dissemination of information to the public is just a bonus from establishing the National Bushfire Early Detection & Management Network. It is time for automatic bushfire detection to become as taken for granted as any other app that we use on our phones. #firewatchaustralia #bushfire #bushfirremergency #technology #australiangovernment See more

10.01.2022 We have been inundated over the past week with questions as to why FireWatch hasnt been installed in Australia. Ten years ago, we commissioned the leading engineering consulting firm Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) (since acquired by global consulting giant Jacobs) to undertake an analysis of how a substantial national trial of FireWatch could be rolled-out in the highest fire risk areas in each state and territory. For information, their report is also attached. This would be... a measured first step in establishing the Australian Bushfire Detection & Management Network. Here us a link to the proposal on our website. http://www.firewatchaustralia.com//FireWatch-Stage2-Trial-

09.01.2022 Every minute spent on blame, is a wasted opportunity to think differently and to look for solutions. Every dollar wasted on a Royal Commission, is a dollar not spent on new technology, systems and firefighting assets to fight fires as soon as they start and put them out before they become fire monsters. We need leaders to lead, not duck for cover. FireWatch Australia

08.01.2022 We shot this video 10 years ago when we proposed the creation of a National Early Bushfire Detection & Management Network. The Hon. Fran Baileys impassioned plea that no other Australian should have to endure what her constituents experienced in Victorias Black Saturday disaster where 173 people died, brings tears to my eyes. Is it time now to create National Early Bushfire Detection & Management Network? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

04.01.2022 This is a well balanced article however whilst there will always be a few bad eggs in our volunteer fire fighting services, the vast vast majority of the volunteer firefighters are brave and selfless citizens who care deeply about their communities and the bush they live in. We must have a National Bushfire Early Detection & Managerment network to catch the few people who bring shame on our incredible rural fire services.

03.01.2022 FireWatch Australia was founded 11 years ago to bring proven and reliable bushfire detection technology to Australia. It seemed logical to us that a country with such devastating and catastrophic bushfires had to invest in the best technology to support our incredible firefighters. We envisaged a national network of bushfire detection sensors operating 24 x 7 to provide early detection and situational awareness to the women and men who keep us safe every summer. Depending...Continue reading
