Found on heavier soils in western and northern Victoria, Blue Grass-lily can be identified by linear leaves that are shiny-green below and often glaucous above. The flowers are blue or purplish, with darker coloured nerves. .... . This particular specimen has popped up in a biodiversity offset plug at one of our sites in Kalkallo. 12.01.2022 Basalt Daisies (Brachyscome paludicola) were planted as part of a planting program we conducted in late winter at Paramount Grassland, a Victorian Volcanic Plains grassland ecosystem with exceptional biodiversity. It’s good to see such a high rate of survivorship, with many of the specimens we planted exhibiting new growth and inflorescences. . . Hydrological changes adjacent to the site due to the construction of a factory complex resulted in the formation of a wet depressi...on, so it was decided that B. paludicola would suit the wetter conditions, and would therefore be a particularly viable option. Other species thriving in and around the wet depression include: Juncus flavidus, Eryngium ovinum, and the rare Austrostipa gibbosa. . .
