18.01.2022 Building Owners/Managers: Learn how to prepare an Annual Essential Safety Measures Report - https://buff.ly/37KTWV5

17.01.2022 FPA Australia have been working on a statement to provide clarity around the definition of essential fire safety maintenance in Australia. I think this is a good explanation we can use to ensure the reliability, integrity, functionality and performance of essential fire safety systems, equipment and life safety features in a building or structure that have been installed principally for the protection of life or property.

11.01.2022 Conducting fan integrity testing of gaseous fire suppression systems today with James from Fico. Even when you think everything looks good for a pass, we found one of the enclosures we tested failed dismally. Hold Time for Novec 1230 around 2 minutes when it should have been at least 10 minutes. The cause a dozen or so fire blankets had been removed from a penetration in a wall to make way for more data cables. The moral of this story; (1) conduct regular (12-monthly) test of the enclosure integrity, (2) educate stakeholders about the impact of not sealing penetrations, (3) engage a competent contractor to undertake these activities. 03.01.2022 Australian Standard AS2118.1 specifies the requirements for automatic fire sprinkler systems in buildings, including areas around commercial type cooking equipment in kitchens and associated ventilation systems. Where the cooking equipment includes a deep fat fryer, there are other considerations that installers and maintainers MUST take into consideration. http://l.firewize.com/3aXKUW6

03.01.2022 Earlier today, a customer advised me that their engineer had issued a non-conformance in respect to the use of "heat collector plates" for his #FireSprinklerSystem. His question to us, was this a risk to his building. After considerable research I found that the Standard (AS2118.1) provides some limited guidance on this, and here are our findings; http://l.firewize.com/2KX5Gws
