21.01.2022 I wear two hats not only am I bookkeeper I am also a makeup and hair artist of 21 years. I've just spent the last 5 days in Longreach working with youth of the drought. The School of Distant Education holds a school musical every second year, these student don't have the opportunities to do after school activities like dancing, footy etc. So I wanted to offer them something they have never experienced before to do their hair & makeup for them, the job was bigger then just m...e so 4 other artist come out with me to make a team of 5. I hoped to get lots of very happy students, what I received was far more than that. I never expected to touch the hearts of The entire cast, crew, community and families involved, the positive response was overwhelming at times. The stories, about the lives these rural outback farmers deal with day in day out, was far beyond what we see and hear in the media. I only saw a very small area, yet it was enough to see first hand the drought conditions they live in. The drought effects them all in very different ways. If you travel through these outback towns stop, buy some lunch, a paper or even a beer, every little cent helps. I am planning on heading back in two years, if you would like to make a donation towards the next trip please PM me. Burrumbuttock Hay Runner sponsored us this trip, here Brendons words.
