25.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our Royal patron

24.01.2022 Tartan Day Parade and all other Melbourne Tartan Festival events have been cancelled this year and rescheduled to 10-24th July 2021.

24.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY CHIEF COMMISSIONER Greetings all, I trust that I find you all well and healthy in these unusual times in our lives. ... As we are slowly coming out of the extreme Pandemic conditions before us and the emergency conditions are easing, we now must face a changing future. One of the issues confronting us is the uncertainty of our new normal. There will obviously be a change in the way in which we go about our lives in both work and life generally. Workplace situations will change and maybe some of us will be without employment and hardships may affect us and impact on our family lives. I have provided a list of professional agencies that can offer support for those in need of confidential assistance during this difficult time. All members should note these support agencies and indeed further offer these services to those within our own personal communities who are under stress at this time. We should not be directly involved in any personal details of folk under stress. We should just merely offer comfort and assistance by providing a list of professionals who offer these confidential services. Lifeline is 13 11 14. Mental Health Advice Line: 1300 280 737. Beyond Blue is 1300 224 636. Nurse On Call is 1300 606 024. Mens Line Australia is 1300 789 978. Relationships Australia is 1300 364 277. Kids Help Line is 1800 551 800. Parent Line is 13 22 89. Coronavirus Hotline is 1800 675 398. Both David and I wish you well and thank you for your continuing work and support during these difficult and changing times. DCCOM Wayne Makin

23.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our Patron, Malcolm Murray, the Earl Of Dunmore.

22.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF COMMISSIONERS Dear all, many folk within industry have been asking us how we perform CPR during this Pandemic period of time. We all know that the normal will never be the same in the manner in which we assist the injured in performing our duties as first aiders in the field.... I have seen very little world wide in giving any advice on how to perform first aid CPR at this time and surprisingly the only up to date information came from St. Andrew's First Aid Scotland. I share this link with you and I hope that this puts you at ease when tasked in performing CPR/Mouth to Mouth on the injured. You will notice in this link that there will now be no mouth to mouth and that chest compressions and clear airways are the new norm at this time. In the video link, you will see the first aider wearing gloves, this is the most basic level of PPE that should be used. It is not always possible to have gloves available for when someone is in stress in the suburban street, but with the new norm, many of us are now carrying disposable gloves. Use the gloves if you have them. When attending an event as a first aid operative the usual PPE is recommended ie. gloves, clear glasses and face mask. And of course wash hands thoroughly after contact with the injured party and safely dispose of PPE and decontaminate safety glasses and any ancillary equipment after use. Common hygiene practice. Have a look at the short video and feel comfortable with the suggested approach recommended by St. Andrew's Scotland. https://www.firstaid.org.uk/traini/guidelines/cpr-covid-19/ Keep Safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon as we start to get some normality into our lives. Please pass this communication on to our local support volunteers. Thank you for you involvement with St. Andrew's First Aid Australia as a volunteer over the last 12 months. Without you we cannot deliver our services within our community. Well done all. A fresh start awaits us all. David & Wayne
