18.01.2022 What is Shock?? Shock is a life threatening medical emergency as a result of insufficient blood flow throughout the body. Types of Shock... Septic Shock results from bacteria multiplying in the blood and releasing toxins. Common Causes infection Anaphylactic Shock is a type of severe allergic reaction. Cardiogenic Shock is when the heart is damaged Hypovolemic Shock is caused by severe fluid or blood loss Neurogenic Shock is caused by a spinal cord injury Signs and Symptoms Rapid shallow breathing Cold Dizzy Weak Rapid weak pulse Depending of the types of Shock other symptoms include Eyes appear to stare Unresponsive Agitation Seizure Confusion Low or no urine output Bluish lips and fingernails Sweating First Aid Treatment Call 000 Be calm and reassure If any obvious bleeding please treat first. Lay them down elevate legs and cover with a blanket if they are unresponsive please place in a recovery position.
