19.01.2022 This week, we celebrate Refugee Week! While we can’t be together at this time we really believe that the word 'Welcome' goes a long way in someone’s first experiences in Australia, especially as we walk together! We are so humbled and privileged to have shared conversations, footprints and hi-fives from people around the globe. It’s not difficult to extend a hand in friendship. Welcome is that simple. ... We can’t wait to get back to saying 'Welcome' in person again soon. Till then ... here’s a little message for you! (Via our QLD team)

18.01.2022 AND WHAT A SEASON IT ENDED UP BEING . In what has to be the weirdest hiking season / year ever, FHP-WA still managed to put together four amazing events that aligned with our new COVIDSafe policy. The extra effort shown by our wonderful volunteer crew is second-to-none and we thank them from the bottom of our heart. . We had three day walks along the Bibbulmun Track with evening campfire dinners and night hikes back to the vans as well as a family day hike in John Forrest N...ational Park in partnership with Australian Red Cross. This season has shown us how creativity and ingenuity can really help us solve the puzzle that Covid19 has thrown at us. . @welcomeisthissimple Explore Parks WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Bibbulmun Track Foundation Australian Red Cross CWA Perth Belles See more

08.01.2022 PERFECT WEATHER AND COMPANY . A lively, friendly bunch of young students from Cyril Jackson Senior Campus joined us for our adventure through the Darling Range. After an Acknowledgement to Country to the Noongar Wadjuk people we headed out, all smiles and chatter. The hikers relaxed into it, enjoying the bush, the birds, lizards and epic scenery, before a lunch stop had us filling our bellies and then hiking on into the afternoon. We reached Hewitt’s Hut on the Bibbulmun Trac...k Foundation where we settled in for the evening. A quick lesson in fire lighting resulted in a magical campfire whilst a classic camp dinner was prepared. The time went quickly and we headed out under a clear sky filled with starts, torches leading the way, to finish our journey. Everyone of the hikers was grateful and all were extremely keen to join us on future events. . A big thank you to the hikers for their enthusiasm, trust and for letting us hear their stories. Thank you, to all our volunteers for organising the event which has been made possible by a St John of God Midland Public & Private Hospitals Community Wellbeing Grant that supports local community projects that contribute to the physical wellbeing or mental wellbeing of our community. . #welcomeisthissimple See more

01.01.2022 WITH RESPECT . We acknowledge the lands on which we walk, hike, camp and live have always been under the protection, custody and care of Aboriginal peoples. These same lands were never ceded and no treaty was ever signed so #alwayswasalwayswillbe means that we will forever be guests on these lands and must learn to treat it with the respect it deserves. .
