15.01.2022 Today, we’re celebrating #GivingTuesdayNow. Giving Tuesday Now is a new global day of giving and unity. While we are separate physically, Giving Tuesday now encourages us to still show social connection (even while practicing physical distancing). ... Here’s some of our favourite ideas to participate in Giving Tuesday Now: 1. Combat loneliness by reaching out to a neighbour, relative, seniors or newly arrived person! They are feeling the affects of this difficult time more than most. 2. Say THANK YOU! To people in your community who are providing essential services, to those who are staying home, or your favorite business or organisation who are still operating despite all the challenges. 3. Make a small (or big) gift to a non-profit you love. Of course, we love First Hike Project and would be incredibly grateful for your support! 08.01.2022 In light of the recent developments regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cease all hikes for the foreseeable future. Even though we are going to be physically separated from each other for a while, we still have a need and desire to stay socially connected with each and everyone of you. We encourage our little community to be safe but connect with others whenever you can, especially our newly arrived friends. ... The First Hike Project team of volunteers here in Brisbane will be remaining connected virtually to ensure we're ready to explore the bush with new friends when we are able to again.

While we cannot be together at this time, here at First Hike Project, we really believe that the word 'Welcome' goes a long way in a refugee's experiences in Australia. We strive to create and strengthen meaningful relationships with Aboriginal Australians, deepen our understanding of the traditional connection to land and culture, seek ways to hear and amplify the voices of Aboriginal Australians and take a position of listening and learning. . #alwayswasalwayswillbeaboriginalland See more
