25.01.2022 Another day done at @thefarmatbyronbay, learning from the legends @hungry_earth_agroecology and @growingrootspermaculture. Solid deep dive today into cool season annual consortiums. Keen as a broad bean to put it into action this week, rising moon cycle so a prime time to get sowing

17.01.2022 That feeling when you can harvest something the Wallabies, Bush Turkeys and Rats haven’t eaten. Garlic now gets its time to shine, with the radishes facing their impending doom in our bellies. They’ve been super helpful as a living mulch to suppress weeds, ease evaporation and protect our soil, and they’ve also pumped a whole bunch of sugars into the soil to feed soil life through photosynthesis. Now they’re off to our plates and fermentation jars to nourish our bodies! Woo! Go radish!

15.01.2022 If you guys haven't seen this yet, it's super well worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSPNRu4ZPvE&vl=en The perfect pairing of growing food, ecosystem regeneration and beauty.... A foundational understanding of nature and it's engine enables us to think with the creativity we've been given to grow our food, fuel and fibre in a way which won't just nourish our bodies, but our souls and also the earth around us! Syntropic Agriculture ranges from the herb pot on your window sill to the 100 hectare avocado farms up the road. We can always move towards life, towards complexity, and towards abundance. With the time we have available we are moving towards systems of abundance out here at Ravensbourne, using nature's beautifully designed engine to grow our food. Swing us a line and get connected if you're keen to learn more!

12.01.2022 Solid stuff! Stacking plants through space and time =

11.01.2022 So it begins. First beds prepped with veggies in! It’s been a wild journey and it’s not stopping here. More to come

08.01.2022 I thought this was a cool example of the way in which plants work together to enhance the quality and quality of all life in an area. . The Wild Tobacco here is playing big brother to our little pumpkin we transplanted last week, and has already played a great role in producing biomass, holding back erosion, photosynthesising, increasing life in the soil, and now protecting the fragile plants we’re adding to the system. . From what I’ve observed so far, Wild Tobacco is a earl...y successional emergent tree which can act as a pioneer in the system, clearly protecting the life underneath it. If let go to seed, the birds love it and will spread it far and wide, which allows the Solanum to find new, degraded areas to pop on up in and potentially be a bit of a bad guy. . We have the possibility though, as agents of change, to come into the system and manage the Wild Tobacco in such a way that it will only benefit the system and bring abundance into the area quicker than nature ever could on its own. Such a beautiful and deeply satiating role we are called to play. . #wildtobacco #regenerativeagriculture #organicgardening #permaculture #syntropy #syntropicagriculture #syntropicfarming See more

07.01.2022 Radish harvest! Before and after pics of the bed, now there's a bunch more light for the lettuce to punch on through, they'll be next on the chopping block!

05.01.2022 The native mowers have done a beautiful job here. Although next time we may ask them to leave some for us. Looks like we’re improving the fencing this weekend. #feedingecology

04.01.2022 King Stropharia! . Another advantage of wood chip mulch is being able to seed it with these bad boys. The King Stopharia is an edible mushroom which loves a bit of wood chip goodness (they’ll go in most mulches in fact, but the amount of energy stored in the wood chip really get them going). . They taste awesome, a tad richer than the old portobello, and a bit softer in texture. And with they size they can get to you can tell why they call them the garden giant. Love be...ing able to add another element to the humble old veggie/herb garden. . #mushroom #kingstropharia #regenerativefarming #regenerativeagriculture #organicgardening #permaculture #agroecology See more

01.01.2022 So apparently some of our plants needed a prune. Growing in Australia hey, a land of droughts, flooding rains and golf ball sized hail stones. Such is the life of growing I suppose.. Glad we’ve got some rain this last month, not super glad our veggies and bananas copped a beating. The upside is the water from hail melts slowly so it allows the water to soak in. And as it brings down the biomass from the trees, shrubs and veggies it waters in the organic material to ki...ckstart the composting process and chops and drops for us. Here’s to increasing biodiversity for a sustainable, resilient farm garden! We got some mad snaps on our proper camera but haven’t been able to get the pics off it yet. The aftermath with the steam from the hail was actually beautiful. Stay tuned. Our Instagram also has some more piccies. #hail #hailstorm #regenerativeagriculture #permaculture #organicgardening
