21.01.2022 The Ent Tree near the old camping ground at Flat Rock is one of the iconic trees of Royal National Park. Since the picnic area has been closed and the track in no longer maintained, the area has become densely grown with heath vegetation and the tree is threatened should it burn hot in this area. Angophoras turn a rich salmon colour when they change bark any time from now until after Xmas.

19.01.2022 The valley of Palona Brook near Palona Cave is full of boulders and the stream runs underground for quite a way downstream from the falls itself. Two majestic turpentine trees grow where Lady Carrington Drive crosses Palona Brook

19.01.2022 The recent wet weather over the last week in Royal National Park has resulted in a coal waste dump at Audley. The river ran black for awhile over the last week and dumped a load of coal waste sediment onto the picnic flats at Audley. Much of the coal waste continued on down the river to be dumped in the riverine delta at Greys Point. Pollution events like this are unfortunately a regular event and nothing seems to be done about it.

15.01.2022 The Spirit Tree at The Saddles Sacred Aboriginal Site in Royal National Park is said to contain a guardian spirit that attends the site. It is also a communication tree that can be used to communicate with other people in different locations by placing one's. hands on the correct locations on the tree and then sending and receiving messages to and from that person. Unfortunately it has been badly affected by fires and is in a sorry state.

14.01.2022 National Park is a real place for connections - connections between everything. It is so loved. I hope that whoever made this sign achieved their objective and made the desired connection. On the track into Palona cave.

07.01.2022 This year looks to be a very good year for cicadas and already the adults are emerging from their larval stage and starting their calling for a mate. What a racket. It is deafening along Lady Carrington Drive near Audley. Definitely worth a visit to experience this phenomenon.

07.01.2022 Royal National Park has a wealth of superb Angophoras. Many beautiful ones can be found not far South of Saddle Trig where the plateau falls away as a cliff. They display a wonderment of shapes like living sculptures. I have nicknamed them Vangophoras.

05.01.2022 Nasho is such a beautiful place to reflect on life.

04.01.2022 There is evidence of an old landslip on the Wallumarra Track. It must have happened quite a long time ago as it is well vegetated now. Further evidence of some cataclysmic event causing landslips throughout the park can be found especially on Waterfall Creek below National Falls, along Toonoum Brook and along the Palm Jungle.

03.01.2022 This historic pool was made by bushwalkers in the 1930s by building small dams on the edge of a natural indentation in the rock, which then filled up with water for drinking. It can be found just above the Elephant's Head Rock on the Uloola Track halfway between Audley and Uloola Falls
