20.01.2022 National Reconciliation Weeks (NRW) 2020 there 'In this together' now resonates in more than one way, and reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether. #NRW2020, #aboriginalgifts #firstnationsgifts #authenticgifts This year marks twenty years of shaping Australia’s journey towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation. ... It also marks the twentieth anniversary of the reconciliation walks of 2000, when people came together to walk on bridges and roads across the nation and show their support for a more reconciled Australia. Much has happened since these early days, including greater: -acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights to land and sea; -understanding of the impact of government policies and frontier conflicts; and - an embracing of stories of Indigenous success and contribution. Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are strong relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

20.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation with First Nation peoples in Australia. Let’s walk together, have courageous conversations and own our true shared history for a better and brighter future. https://youtu.be/7OP6oyziabE

19.01.2022 Do you have family has a member who is known for inappropriate gifts? What have you received that was inappropriate? The saying that 'you can't buy style' is possibly true in this instance. Gift giving or appropriate gift giving is an art and is not always about how much money you spend, but more about how much time you spend considering the most appropriate gift for the money - that where the value for the receiver is!

19.01.2022 Just had a visit to Tiwi Designs (the art centre) on Bathurst Island, home of the unique culture of the Tiwi people. Beautiful azure seas at Bathurst Island and amazing artwork at the arts centre, with weaving, painting and wooden sculptures.

17.01.2022 As an Aboriginal owned business, we aim to contribute to the invigoration and building of the Aboriginal business sector which is something we are passionate about. We want to support First Nations businesses grow and succeed in a sustainable way. It takes a community to build something special. We know we cannot create significant change alone and that is why we ask you to support us, support other Aboriginal businesses and work together to contribute in any way we can. ... Indigenous Business Month shines a light on a diverse range of Aboriginal businesses doing great things. Remember, when you spend with an Aboriginal business we not only do a happy dance, but it supports us to prosper and grow in our own country and that supports Australia to prosper and grow. So check out the Indigenous Business Month page for more information on Indigenous businesses... #indigenousgifts #IndigBizMonth #firstnationgifts #aboriginalowned #Indigenousbusiness #iba #IndigenousLivesMatter

09.01.2022 Following in from our previous post on Nibutani Ainu Culture Centre...we fell in love with this ‘cultured up’ vending machine. It uses a traditional Ainu outhouse structure to protect it in the outdoors and the cultural patterning of Ainu textiles on the box cover to make something modern blend a little better into its surroundings. The cutest vending machine we have seen for a while! #ainu #nibutani #firstnationsgifts

08.01.2022 We love this quote! It highlights that gift giving is not just about receiving, it relies on a spirit of generosity from both sides. A physical gift becomes a symbol of the generosity of spirit that lies between the giver and the receiver.
