24.01.2022 The waters of Sailors Bay have been a little too murky to play on of late, so the cubs and scouts have been busy occupying themselves with different activities. Last Thursday it was pumpkin carving for the Shark Scouts .

23.01.2022 For those of you not already participating in the cub/scout/venturer activities we have planned and you want something to do on the weekend that gets you outdoors and is good for the environment, you can come and help 1st Sailors Bay Sea Scouts with their Clean Up Australia Day efforts. We have three public sites registered (including Shelly Beach, where our Venturers will be scuba diving to clean up the seafloor): 1st Sailors Bay Hall - https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.a...u//reidbut/1614858816 1st Sailors Bay Boatshed - https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au//1st-sailors-bay-se Shelly Beach -https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au//shelly-beach---und cleanupaustraliaday.org.au

20.01.2022 A reminder that Earth Hour is tonight from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. There are lots of activities you can do during Earth Hour including challenging your family to a board game, or even having your very own living room camp out! How will you be #switchingoff?

20.01.2022 Last weekend a load of helpers braved the torrential rain to spend an afternoon at the hall, fixing, sorting and cleaning. Today two special scout mums painted a compass on the hall floor to complement our beautiful mural by @sophiodling. The hall is now looking superb don’t you think? #firstsailorsbay #scoutsnsw #sophiodling

16.01.2022 This Weekend the third weekend in October is the Jamboree of the Air (JOTA) and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI). The last Australian Jamboree had around 11,000 participants, and the recent World Jamboree in the USA had more than 40,000. That's nothing compared to JOTI which is the biggest activity in Scouting, with close to 2.5 million participants from over 170 countries. JOTA-JOTI is a fun and exciting annual experience for all young people in Scouts and Guides. It is a "tr...avel-free" Jamboree that takes place wherever you are in the world. During the JOTA-JOTI weekend Scouts from around the world take the opportunity to communicate with each other via the internet. Some Scouts take part in JOTI at their Scout HQ or at a Scouting event, whilst others take part in their own home. As the internet, and access to the internet has grown, so has the number of people taking part in JOTI. Due to COVID-19 the Sydney North Region JOTA/JOTI camp will not be run. But Scouts can still get involved ScoutLink is a global, non-profit organisation that aims to connect Scouts and Guides from all over the world. They do this in many ways, but their 3 main services are IRC/Webchat (text chat), TeamSpeak (voice chat), and Minecraft. Although the busiest time of the year is during JOTI, they are online every day of the year. You can chat to Scouts of all ages worldwide, discover new cultures, learn new languages, and make new friends, as well as finding fresh ideas for camps, scout meetings, and your international programme! https://www.scoutlink.net/

16.01.2022 A few concerned leaders/parents from 1st Sailors Bay formulated a working group a few weeks ago (together with concerned parties from Northbridge Scouts and Northbridge Swimming Club), in order to establish our position on the beaches link tunnel project, in particular our response the (12,000 page!) Environmental Impact Statement which came out over the Christmas period. We met last Monday night, and have been working on our submission this week. The attached document is our... objection to the project in its entirety, but specifically to the EIS in relation to the adverse effects the tunnel construction will have on the activities of our group. Cub Leader/ District Training Leader, Rebecca Taumalolo has put in an extraordinary amount of work on the submission and should be commended for the way it has been put together in such a limited amount of time. Please give her a huge pat on the back (1-2-3 wolf / B-R-A-V-O-O-O) when you see Bec next! https://docs.google.com/a/firstsailorsbay.com.au/viewer

14.01.2022 If you look closely across the road from the market garden you will see our current scout hall and sheds at the side of the creek.

09.01.2022 11th November is universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the First World War. This conflict had mobilised over 70 million people and left between nine and 13 million dead and as many as one third of these with no grave. Join us to observe one minute silence at 11.00am, to remember those who died or suffered for Australia's cause in all wars and armed conflicts. #lestweforget
