24.01.2022 What shoes do we wear? For the first lesson it's a good idea to get use to dancing in something that is comfortable for you. Some couples go bare foot or slippers others joggers and sandals. Once you are comfortable in the steps it is then a good idea to wear your wedding shoes (or a pair similar in shape and style) for the rehearsal to really get a feel for what it will be like on the day. How long should our song be? ... Length is totally up to your discretion. We have worked with couples on routines that are 2 minutes, 5 minutes and even multiple songs in length! We do suggest multiple lessons for longer songs as there are more variations to learn.

23.01.2022 It can be a little daunting dancing in front of your friends and family. It can also be just as scary booking dance lessons when you barely know your left from your right. We want to make the process as painless as possible. Over the next few days we will answer the most common questions we get asked, to put your mind at ease. Your first dance isn't something you should stress about! ... How many lessons do you recommend? It depends on a few factors. What kind of dance you are interested in, your previous experience and how likely you are to practice together. Some couples are confident after one lesson, some we see for weeks leading up to the big day. We recommend booking in for the first lesson to get a feel for the basics then it's totally up to you.

23.01.2022 How much space do we need at our home? We can work with minimal space, a medium sized lounge room or garage space is fine. It's always a good idea to think about how big the dance floor is at your wedding venue and consider how that relates to the space you have to rehearse in. We can also organise for location rehearsals, either in a studio space or at your chosen reception venue to really get a feel for what it will be like on the day.

19.01.2022 Do we have to be able to dance already? Not at all! Our lessons are designed for all couples no matter what experience they have.... Do we need to have our song picked out? To start, we will teach you basics of your chosen style, that can be danced to all different sorts of music in the fitting genre. It is a good idea to have a short list of ideas ready, even if you haven't nailed down 'the one', sometimes the choice becomes simple once you start moving to the beat.

18.01.2022 We've booked our lesson, what should we do now? There are a few things to think about before your first lesson; What song you would like to use. Will it be played live or from a digital resource.... Do you want to dance to the entire song or will you be inviting people up to dance. The size of your dance floor and guest viewing (will they be seated on one side of the floor, two sides or surrounding?) How you would like to start and end your first dance. What kind of shoes you will be wearing. How many weeks until the big day, including how much practice time you think you will have. Will the dress make any dance moves impossible. (Don't worry we will never ask you to describe the dress in front of your partner, we know better than that!) Any current or previous injuries that may need to be considered while choreographing a routine. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers! We will help in any way we can to make this process as smooth as possible.

15.01.2022 We don't want to dance for the entire song, what can we do? You have a few options, you can pick a point in the song and ask your bridal party to join you, ask your DJ to fade out the music at a certain point or have your music edited by us! Sophie has spent years creating incredible mixes for her competition routines and has used that expertise to help couples change length, speed up, slow down or even mash songs together for their bridal dance. All songs are then emailed to you and can be sent directly to your DJ or put onto a USB to be easily played at your venue.

09.01.2022 Our song is being played live, how will we practice? We think live music for a first dance is just magical and we will work with you and your artist to make sure everything goes smoothly. If you are dancing to a cover we will start lessons by using the original of the track where possible. We also suggest asking your artist for a rough recording of the cover (phone recording is fine) so that we can check for any changes in the music. ... We don't have room in our home, can we still book lessons with you? Of course! We have partnered with a number of dance studios all over the Hunter who happily rent out their space. Scheduling is subject to their availability at an extra cost (usually around $20.00 for the hour)
