22.01.2022 ***Throwback Thursday*** Dedication to the Art of Taekwondo, over (multiple) decades is something our Senior Instructors strive towards, not only for themselves, but also for their students. It is undoubtedly something special, the connection between Instructor and student, on the path which guides them on their journey to reach Black Belt. It is something even more remarkable to see a student reach the rank of Instructor, and to go further to earn their 2nd Dan Black Belt. T...here a very few words then, that could possibly encapsulate the essence of a bond that is forged over 32+ years, and when a time comes for an Instructor to then teach a 2nd generation student. This is the case for Chief Instructor Dane and Senior Instructor Michael. The photo on the left is of a young 7th Kup student, Michael, photographed with his first board break, and his Instructor, Ins Dane (circa 1988). Instructor Michael went on to become Western Australia's first ever Junior Black Belt, in 1996. The photo on the right is again of CI Dane and SI Michael (March, 2020), but with the incredibly special addition of Instructor Michael's young son, Joze - who is following in his Dad's footsteps, commencing his own Taekwondo training last year. SI Michael, who will be applying for his 3rd Dan Grading Exam in the very near future, has trained continuously for over 32 years, under the direct instruction of and is now 2IC to Chief Instructor Dane at Beechboro Dojang. Such loyalty, dedication and commitment to one's first Instructor, and of this calibre is very rare.
