24.01.2022 Mandatory wearing of face-coverings starts in Victoria today and I suspect today is going to be #MaskSelfieMonday. Show me your #MaskSelfie in the comments and let's show our support for all those on the health frontline who have been wearing them for months! Let’s all do what we have to; wear a face covering, maintain good hand hygiene, keep that social distance. #BringCovidDown

23.01.2022 Just 13 days until Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues releases its program of streamed performances for it's 30th anniversary festival. It's certainly been a tricky time for this and other regional events, as they tried to plan during changing COVID-19 restrictions. Give them a follow and check out the program when it is released.

21.01.2022 Are you looking for new ideas or do you need re-energising for the work you are currently doing? Getting creative can give you that spark. Have you considered an office toy box? https://fishbowlpr.com.au//creativity-benefits-of-an-offi/

21.01.2022 Do you use Linked In? I recently discovered it offers this handy tool for those of us with unusual names - because they can be tricky for some people to know how to pronounce. Linked In has an audio clip function that allows me, and others with unusual names, to record the pronunciation. It’s only available on your mobile but very easy to do. (It’s the little microphone / audio icon next to your name on your Linked In profile.) Do you find it useful?

20.01.2022 Thanks The Border Mail for sharing this good news story. Central Hume Primary Care Partnership has been creating good news stories for 20 years. Happy anniversary to the team!

13.01.2022 Are you looking for a regional leadership opportunity? Over the next couple of months there are two opportunities worthy of consideration; standing to represent your community on your local council and nominating to be a member of your local Regional Partnership. In order to stand for council, there is a new requirement to complete a short candidate training course by mid-September before you can nominate. This training is being held online. Then we all get to vote at the end... of October. If you are interested in joining the Regional Partnership, applications close on 1 October. In both cases, your skills and experience in developing relationships, strong communication, problem solving and decision-making will be highly valued. 09.01.2022 What do you value about the north east's rivers, landscapes and biodiversity? The North East CMA has opportunities for you to tell them about your vision for the region tomorrow and Wednesday as part of their development of the next Regional Catchment Strategy (RCS). The RCS considers what drives change, how people and place are entwined and guides planning and investment for the region’s land, water and biodiversity for the next six years. It will consider how the region can deal with unexpected events, such as bushfires, flooding and COVID-19, that bring both challenges and opportunities.

09.01.2022 In April 1987, yes amazingly, 34 years ago, as a journalist, I traipsed out to the Cumberland Lorne building site and to a Council meeting for this story. Even then, the Minister for Planning and Environment was concerned about the level of public involvement in decision-making. Through the years, that need led to a whole new field of practice; community engagement. What I love when organisations see their communities as an asset, is that it builds understanding and much more.... https://fishbowlpr.com.au//benefits-of-treating-your-comm/

05.01.2022 Do you have a crisis response team? Does it regularly test its processes? Today David Hawkins from Socom shared a simple process with the Border North East Regional Communicators' Network and tested us in its use with a relevant scenario. It was a great opportunity to learn with our peers from a very experienced and generous crisis specialist. Thanks to David and all who joined in.

04.01.2022 Does your organisation have an active online community? Then this example might give you a new idea about how to acknowledge them. I recently joined in a discussion with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) of which I am a member, and they used my comment and those of others and turned them into an article. It’s a good example of how you might acknowledge your online community and share their insights. Here’s the article, complete with recommendation...s for books to help you or your team improve their communications. Let me know your thoughts if you read one of them or have already read one? https://catalyst.iabc.com//adapt-your-communication-style-

02.01.2022 Five months ago today, COVID-19 wasn’t really on our radar as we headed to the Bushfire Forum in Beechworth. This was a community effort to support recovery for bushfire affected communities. We were pleased to work with Jerun Terlaak to capture what people took away from the training sessions they attended.... The consistent response in this vox pop was to listen to local communities and resource them to determine and lead their recovery. There are more videos from the day on AVCL’s youtube channel. Congratulations to the organisers SB - Susan Benedyka and Alpine Valleys Community Leadership https://www.youtube.com/watch

02.01.2022 You can start buying your tickets to this year's streamed 30th anniversary Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues. And what a line-up they have.
