22.01.2022 Cod Season Opens up on December 1st which is really exciting! Just be sure to know your Victorian Rules and Practices before heading our for a fish as hefty fines can apply to Anglers doing the wrong thing. Remember the Minimum legal length for Murray cod is 55cm with a max of 75cm to ensure smaller fish get a chance to breed and larger fish sustain the population. ... The statewide bag limit for the Murray cod is 1 from Rivers and 2 from Urban or specified Lakes and impoundments. Tight lines.

The species is... not known to be established in Australia and could spread rapidly and consume and outcompete our native species including commercially important scallops, mussels and oysters.
