25.01.2022 Iso job done. Dont forget inflatable jackets need to be inspected yearly. You can do your own and its pretty simple so no excuses . I did a post a few weeks ago with forms needed etc too so scroll back down and you will find. Make sure yours are done as police are checking they have been serviced when doing boat inspections plus you as skipper are responsible for crew safety. Place forms in a waterproof bag and put in cabin to stay safe. ... Have a good day See more

25.01.2022 Wow. Now that is a pretty cool setup
23.01.2022 Good news. Commercial fishing is important and this is a good step to sustainable futures
23.01.2022 Absolute Cracker day filling our freezers a bit with Zac Ireland Some very nice flathead with best going 69cm. Great results for only a 3 hour drift
23.01.2022 Anyone after a good charger for the boat batteries, Ive had this in now for a couple months and its been a good thing. Twin 6amp outputs , fully auto so switches to maintain once charged and even cycles the batteries once a month. Ip67 rated so its mounted in the transom with boat batteries. Simply plug in an extension lead and forget it until next trip ( which is months away atm ) They do models to charge 3 batteries too if you run 3.
23.01.2022 Anyone want to fit out their boat better? Check these deals out. I have used Plaztek products a lot on my boat. They are excellent quality and can custom anything you want too
23.01.2022 Redoing some drags to ensure theyre nice and smooth , ready to go hard once lockdown is up
22.01.2022 handy hint when chasing gummies etc, if a tide change is due, DONT leave until its over. This fish went right on the last of the tide after 5 boring hours. A day can change so quickly from boring to awesome.
21.01.2022 Boredom video from the archive Here is a clip we did a while ago. My boat had a gen1 on it at this stage. Over 400 hours on my G2 now Always cool to get footage of your boat on the water ... https://youtu.be/irHZZt65oBQ
21.01.2022 Good suggestion from my clever mate Chris Knapping If you have a wheel barrow or large drum, while you have the time, drop the rope off your anchor winch into some fresh water, let it sit for 24 hours, change the water again and repeat the process to desalinate the rope. This will stop the rope from crystallizing hard and will flat lay properly next time you go. Maybe even add salt away to the water... Thanks Chris.
21.01.2022 Fishing report 17/18 Nov With a 930pm low tide change so last light with a tide change , I decided to shoot back up to Welshpool for an overnight session. My good mate Stuart Thornton jumped onboard too so great to catch up after many months since seeing each other . I Finished work at 430pm and was home by 5pm where the boat was already hooked up and loaded with the gear ready to roll. We launched at 7pm with 2.5hours left in the runout tide. We were off for a quick sound... and anchored by 740pm ready for the last of the run out tide. 20minutes later a rod bends over and after a bit of a doughy fight, a 6.2kg snapper hits the net. 5min later and a 2.5kg came in and was released. 15min later a 4kg smashed a trevally bait and screamed off. Also released this one. The next 20min saw 2 more 4kg fish giving us a total of 4 fish in an hour and then nothing for bottom of tide. The start of the flood saw another 2kg fish boated and then it was bed time for a few hours before the daybreak tide change. Sleep time at 12pm but the easterly slap on the side of the boat kept waking me up so I got up at 2 am and started working the rods again. This turned into a massive task with roaring tide and huge amounts of weed giving me lots of grieve but at 3.20am , the little talica 8 with a whole yakka as bait , howled off taking well over 100mtrs of line with many big knocks indicating a big shark but after a long fight it won its freedom when it tangled up the line in strong current and popped the main line. Doh. Nothing on first light but as soon as tide started to trickle out a rod buckled and another 4kg snapper was in the net. Dead quite until 830 with 2 hours left in tide a 5kg gummy buckled a rod over With the last 2 hours of runout now , anticipation is high as this is when fish went last night The last 2 hours saw a 6kg snapper caught and released. Final tally 14 hours on the water 7 snapper 2.5-6.2kg 1 gummy 5kg A great catchup with a mate with some laughs and a good feed of fish for Stuart. See more
21.01.2022 Another cracking session outside yesterday with good mate Quinn. Non stop action from moment we pulled up. 8 gummies to 12kg in fist 90min plus about 50 good flathead caught plus 30min on the squid on way back in for a quick 8 nice squid. Offshore is fishing very well atm.
20.01.2022 This is a joke. Get ready for a huge fight guys if you value your fishing and boating
20.01.2022 Great rod racks and well priced
19.01.2022 Incase you don’t hear on news , police actively saying 25k range is from home , not ramp and they will be checking boats this long weekend.

19.01.2022 3 days at Port Welshpool Here is a run down of 3 cracker days With 25km range removed , I left home Monday at 4am and launched at 6am. Needing bait, first ca...ll was squid grounds with it taking 2 hours to get my bag of 10 for bait. Next I sounded some snapper in deep but tide was running way too hard so I went up the Franklin area and sounded some arches. Easterly wind was painful. Straight away a 50cm flathead then nothing for 2 hours until a Decent bronzie ate my squid ring. Unfortunately I it lost at boat side after getting it there twice but out of gaff range. Nothing again for 2 hours and just as I pulled my hot dinner from the oven, a triple on snapper with one spitting the hooks and a 6.5 and a 4kg landed. 10 min later a nice 7kg gummy grabbed a bait. Retrieved at 745pm. Long day for sure. Day2 Launched at 430am and headed back up Franklin for last of flood. Ended up with a 5.5kg and a 2kg red by top of flood. Running low on bait, I grabbed another 4 nice squid and headed down to the front area. Crazy run out tide with 10 gummy’s 4-10kg with 3 double hookups. Fishing solo , this was exhausting. I fished the first hour of the flood and went home for a much needed rest but No more snapper sadly. Day 3 I Had a mate join me today for his first Welshpool fish ever so we went offshore to show him around. No gummies offshore just a heap of gurnard and a nice feed of flathead for the morning so we shot back inside for the last 3 hours of the out. 4 gummies 3-5kg and I dropped an solid red when hooked pulled close to end of the fight was all we managed in the last of runout so we tried did snapper in Singapore for the start of the flood but storm front was coming fast also home time. I can’t wait to return again Final Tally 15 gummies 3-10kg. Most 6-10 5 solid reds and a couple lost 16 squid 20 flathead kept 37 hours on the water over 3 days is awesome for the soul. Ps. Not a single flat fish caught in 3days fishing for those that aren’t sure about using paternoster instead of running rigs. A few pics of the trip.
17.01.2022 Iso project and a new skill learnt. My Boat floor was looking very tired and getting slippery so it was time to learn how to flowcoat and fleck. With a lot of YouTube watching and some quality advice from the man himself , Hary Baker (who would been paid to do this job if I had income atm but that wasnt to be) I really appreciate the advice mate , I know many wouldnt tell someone how to do a job they would be paid to do. Youre 100% a champion. ... So I stripped the boat and sanded floor and inner of the sides with 40grit flap wheel on grinder to prepare it. Good mate Ino was nice enough to give me some grey glow coat and hardener he had left over from his own boat which saved me some $$ and I brought some black for the fleck. Appreciate it heaps mate Its cane up pretty good for a first time doing anything like this. Funnily the pics look blotchy and shadow but its not up close and looks just like close up pics of pockets. Even gave the stainless a polish before putting back in. A very happy boy here and its time to get some blood all over it again
17.01.2022 Report 27/11/2020 After a couple of weeks of planning , myself and Chris Knapping decided to run to Welshpool for our first catch-up since covid. With a 15-20kn forecast until 11am, we planned a gentleman’s hours trip launching at 8am to catch some squid for a start but 15-20 easterly wind made that hard so we decided to use the frozen I had. We fished The start of run around the barge mark but wind against tide made it hard for the boat to even turn on the small tide. We ...fished here for 2 hours for only a 60cm flathead and I got bitten off by a shark was all we got here. My Good mates bill and Ned both stopped to say hi on their way in and both were kind enough to throw me a couple of fresh squid they had spare. Top blokes. At 2 pm the wind dropped off so we shot off to the area I wanted to fish and after 15min of sounding we dropped the anchor and set the rods with 2 hours left in the run out. 15 min later a rod howled off and after a good fight a 6.8kg Pb snapper from my mate Chris was in the net. Silver whiting inside a small squid tube did the damage. 10min later and we dropped another fish that felt 3-4 kg and then another rod screamed off and another 6kg was in the net. 5min later another rod howled off and Chris boated another 6kg fish 3 x 6kg in 30min snapper. Nice Next fish was 7.2kg for me and I released it as if was in good condition At 340pm a rod screamed off and after a good fight Chris baited his new PB at 8.2kg Chris had PB’d twice today. Total snapper for last 2 hours of runout was 7 fish 5.8-8.2kg. We fished the first hour of the flood for nothing and just as I was about to pull in the last rod to go home , it buckled over and a 5.5kg came aboard. We decided to stay a little longer after that bite and we landed another 3 nice reds around 5.5kg Final score was 11 snapper hooked , 9 boated 2 dropped. Best 8.2kg with another 2 over 7kg See more
16.01.2022 Big thanks to Des from Ausfish Taxidermy for doing another cracking job on the 20lb snapper. This time something diff to the others being on a reef background If you catch your trophy give Des a shout

12.01.2022 Caring for your catch I have been bleeding mine this way lately instead of cutting the head and it works very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnbNWfitfOY... I do this and then gut within a couple of minutes of hitting the deck.
10.01.2022 Just spent a couple days at Port Welshpool before we got locked down in the city areas. Lot quieter than last few trips but we had 2 nice days. Tuesday morning was pretty sloppy outside seeing the decky feel a bit crook so we tucked in close to the prom and chased squid to conditions improved and managed 18 nice squid with 3 around the 40cm size hoods. We then went out to 40mtr line and managed about 50 flathead keeping 22 nice ones 37-62cm range . Coming home was great wi...th a glass out. Wednesday we launched at 545 into a full whiteout of fog so radar was very handy. Once we got to the end of the Lewis, fog lifted so we went and fished for snapper for a couple of hours. We sounded a fair few fish but couldnt extract a bite in 2hours so outside again to once again find it sloppy out there but certainly fishable so we spent 4 hours drifting for 1 x 6-8kg gummy and about 50 flathead again and kept 20 in the 37-54cm range Great couple days out there even though bait and gummies were certainly harder to find then last few trips. No more Welshpool trips now for 6weeks so have to fish westernport and Ppb for a bit. See more
09.01.2022 Fishing report 14/15 Nov 2020 With a nice looking evening forecast and a midnight high tide change and Daybreak low tide change , I figured I better shoot back up to Port Welshpool for an overnighter. Quick message to my mate Drew saw him quickly say , I’m in 100% Launching at 4pm we went to chase squid for the last of the run out tide as fresh bait always is best. We Managed 5 squid fairly quickly so off we went for the night. It was pretty quiet for the whole flood t...ide except for losing a decent shark which I suspect maybe a thresher as it jumped in the dark and insanely fast runs before it tail whacked the line and won its freedom . Doh. With nothing caught by midnight , we went to sleep with plan to wake at 4am for the daybreak bite. We left 2 rods in just dangling above the bottom so boat could spin without snagging. At 120am we were both woken by a screaming drag and after a long fight , a cracker school shark of estimated 25-28kg was in the net. Drew’s new PB school shark. Another quick snooze and awake at 4am for a quick sound and Re anchor for daybreak tide change Right on the last minutes of the run out tide , a rod buckled over and after a cracker fight, a 9.5kg snapper was in the net. Yeah baby. Happy days. We fished the first 2 hours of flood for no fish and with a change coming in quickly, we decided to leave and go home Only 2 fish for the 14 hours but both trophies certainly makes up for it. Back at work finally tomorrow so the fish get a rest for a bit. Tight lines all
09.01.2022 Fished offshore today with Peter Vink on his first Welshpool trip ever and he lands this beast of a gummy and had glass out conditions. It aint always like this mate We also got a 6kg gummy and kept around 34 flathead from 37-63cm. Check out the sounder pic whilst gummy dogged it out under the boat.
08.01.2022 Part 2 of early season snapper. We never realised how distorted this fishes jaw was until we watched the video. Be interesting to recatch him now as would be 20lb plus. Enjoy https://youtu.be/o2aEAVpgjpk
07.01.2022 Tag your mate who owes you compensation
07.01.2022 Here is a video I made Tuesdays insane solo session on gummies at Welshpool. 10 gummies and about 20 flathead solo with 9 of the gummies in 90min. Its a long video of 30min as action was non stop Hope you enjoy it.
07.01.2022 A Must watch clip https://youtu.be/eVphvQjSJ9c
07.01.2022 How cool. Even birds burley up
06.01.2022 I spent a few hours chasing a winter red today. Launching at Warneet , I had to park next to an almost matching setup of black jeep and savage trailer. Not often you can grab that as a cool pic. I found 2 squid pretty quickly to start the day for bait and then had a look and Sounded some nice marks so I sat on them for 5 hours of run out tide but not a single nibble. I had to kill an hour to make sure there enough water to retrieve as its Warneet so I drifted and grabbed another 5 nice squid. Good to see a few squid around after a pretty slow season on them , just would normally be starting to see 38-40cm hoods but these will do for bait. Might have to run offshore again for a decent fish which is a huge solo run when launching at Warneet as my closest ramp with lockdown rules.
05.01.2022 Awesome underwater footage of squid attacking a jig and explains the hook up in the back of the head which is an excellent place to hook them
05.01.2022 BOAT INSURANCE Call your insurer and activate lay up for 3 months guys. Just saved myself $108 on my boat by not using it for 3 months and then extend it if still cant fish after June Hope this helps

If youre not already part of this excellent support group , do yourself a favour and check it out. 02.01.2022 Fishing scales- accuracy testing. Being a bit anal , I decided to check my scales after 3 years of use and I thought others may like the results to help others. My Method: 25ltr esky and a 2 ltr measuring jug and I used water as the weight. ... Esky weighed 2.15kg empty so deduct 2.15kg of the reading to get actual water weight. 1ltr of water = 1kg 6ltr of water = 8.10kg ( .05 variance at 6kg ) 8 ltr of water = 10.15kg (0 variance @ 8kg ) 10ltrs of water = 12.15kg (0 variance @10kg) 12ltrs of water = 14.13kg (.02 variance @12kg ) 14ltrs of water = 16.11kg (.04 variance @ 14kg) 16ltr of water = 18.10kg (.05 variance) The variances are probably just few mls of water I missed so these rapala scales are brilliantly accurate especially being 3yrs old. Yes this post makes me very anal but when I weigh a mates or my own fish especially when it’s a PB fish, I like to know it’s correct. I hope this helps someone.
