25.01.2022 Did you know that today, Evinrude stopped making outboards? This is how the gap will be filled.... Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE:BC) and a world leader in marine propulsion systems, has entered into a strategic supply agreement with BRP to be the supplier of choice for BRP owned boat brands Alumacraft, Manitou, Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellowfin Plate Boats. BRP has made the decision to discontinue the production of E-TEC and E-TEC G2 engines ...effective immediately. This agreement brings us an incredible opportunity to further grow our brand in the marketplace and introduce our award-winning portfolio of outboard engines to new customers around the world, said Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president. We have enjoyed long standing relationships with Alumacraft, Manitou and Telwater and we look forward to continuing to work with them while providing class-leading outboard engines and exceptional service to all of their global customers. We stay true and committed to our marine strategy, and we strongly believe that having two of the most innovative global marine companies to join forces, will not only be mutually beneficial to Mercury Marine and BRP, but also to the whole industry and to customers, " said Karim Donnez, Senior Vice President, Marine Group, IS&T and Global Transformation. While COVID-19 has precipitated the discontinuation of the production of our outboard engines, we will proudly offer packaged Manitou, Alumacraft, Quintrex and Stacer boats with Mercury Marine going forward." Mercury Marine will be the outboard supplier of choice for the Alumacraft and Manitou brands as well as Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellowfin Plate Boats in Australia. We are excited for the BRP dealers and consumers to experience our new engines and with our recent capacity related investments we are well positioned for continued growth, said Drees. Boat packages for Alumacraft, Manitou, Quintrex, Stacer Savage and Yellowfin Plate with Mercury outboards will be available in the near future.

24.01.2022 The boffins at Yamaha Outboards Australia have been let loose from their secret lab and they're about to unleash the Helm Master EX onto the boating public of the world. We get to take a test run on Monday - so keep an eye out for some content coming from that - but in the meantime, here's a sneak-peek of some of the gear. Digital steering barrel (not hydraulic, even though it looks it)... Floating, waterproof key-fob for push-button starting. Yamaha's own, proprietary auto-pilot. A digital binnacle throttle and shift that looks like it can drive Battlestar Galactica. A cool, new digital display that can work with anything from an F20 to a quad-rigged weapon. and yes ... that's joystick control for a SINGLE ENGINE, which means you can lock onto a GPS point with your outboard. And if you think that this means that you can control a drift with a fixed orientation of the boat? Yep. What about setting a drift that follows a reef on my chartplotter map? Yep. Available for Yamahas 150HP and up that have digital electronic control. Full story dropping sometime next week....

23.01.2022 Snapper and pearl perch seasonal closure, 15 July 15 August Snapper and pearl perch will be no-take species from midnight on 15 July 2020, until midnight on 15 August 2020. It applies to all fishers; commercial, charter and recreational. Note: closed seasons run from 12.01 am on the first day of the closure to 11:59 pm on the last day of the closure unless otherwise specified.... This seasonal closure is similar to spawning closures for barramundi and reef fin fish species, which have been critical to ensuring the sustainability of these fisheries. The closure will protect snapper during spawning also provide temporary protection for pearl perch stocks, which are often caught with snapper. Penalties apply to any fisher in possession of these species during the closure. For recreational and charter fishers, a reminder that possession limits are the total number of fish that one person can legally take and keep at any one time. It includes fish you have caught previously, for example, catches at home in your freezer. This means you may only be in possession of snapper or pearl perch during the closure if you can show that the fish were caught in another jurisdiction where it was legal to possess them at the time, or the fish were caught before the closure began. Commercial fishers must report according to the existing Requirement to give information regarding commercial take of snapper (Pagrus auratus) and pearl perch (Glaucosoma scapulare) for the East Coast All Line Symbol Holders. As required, commercial fishers on trips greater than 24 hours must report their catch daily in their logbooks. No snapper and/or pearl perch are permitted to be taken during the closure. During this closure, fishers are encouraged to target other species and take advantage of the Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) that have been installed along the South East Queensland coast. Location of FADs is available online at www.fisheries.qld.gov.au.

19.01.2022 The new 640F is a new addition to the Haines Signature Boats range. John Haines (CEO) explained that the 640F has everything the now replaced 602F provided plus more, allowing for a better boating experience. In the past, the 602F has been one of our most popular boats, which was overdue to be reimagined said Mr Haines. This paved the way for the concept of the 640F.... Taking you further for longer than their previous models of this size, the 640F has a fuel capacity of 226L. This provides up to 25% more fuel capacity than its predecessor, maximising your time on the water. Handling a maximum outboard power of 225HP, the increased power option will give better fuel economy, range, handling and performance. Derived from the 602F, we ensured that the new 640F included all of the existing features, but incorporated feedback from our valued customers and dealers, taking this boat to the next level stated Mr Haines. The new and improved dash layout can now handle up to a 16 GPS/sounder screens and comes with even more desired features in the standard package including Simrad & JL Audio electronics featuring chartplotter/sounder, VHF, stereo and speakers ensuring an enjoyable experience, as well as a dual battery system with VSR standard giving you long range, trouble free boating thanks to automated battery charging. In addition to this, the 640F has many optional design features, giving customers the option to make the boat their own. This includes an optional fully enclosed hardtop with a sizable roof hatch for great airflow, as well as a lockable sliding cabin door to ensure all your gear is secure with space for your family or friends to escape the elements on extended trips. Finally, you may choose to include the best in class transducer option, with a pocket mounted, dual-frequency transducer moulded into the hull, giving the ability to read bottom and mark fish with incredible clarity in depths to 1200m. The boat debuted to the Haines group dealer network on the 22 June via video conference due the COVID-19 restrictions and is available for order immediately via the Haines Signature dealer network. In our 61 years of innovation and creation, I can say myself and the team here at Haines Signature are truly proud of the boat we have created said Mr Haines. Starting from $78,658 RRP for a standard boat, motor trailer package (Suzuki DF140ATX and Dunbier dual axle trailer), including Queensland registration and dealer delivery (ex Brisbane) and on waters. 08.01.2022 *** Yamaha Extends Colour Options and Releases New High-Performance Outboard Range *** Having kick started the 2021 boating season with the launch of the all new Yamaha V6 Offshore range, Yamaha Australia is excited to announce their latest outboard offerings for the Aussie market. With boat owners increasingly looking to customise the look and finish of their boats, Yamaha has announced the release of pearlescent white engine options on their popular and ever dependable F115..., F150 and F200 outboard line-up. Yamaha Marine, National Sales and Marketing Manager, Grant Binskin said, Our customers have told us they want more choice, better integration and increased customisation, when it comes to powering their pride and joy. In 2020 we launched our industry leading Helm Master EX joystick boat control system, taking outboard integration to the next level, with the ability to customise outboard set-ups with digital electronic controls, digital electric steering, autopilot and joystick capabilities, in both multi engine and single engine applications. More recently we launched our new Yamaha V6 Offshore range which saw Yamaha’s exclusive built-in electric steering and enhanced reverse thrust capabilities come across from our big-horsepower V8 XTO425, with the choice of pearlescent white and traditional Yamaha grey finishes. We are now offering this pearlescent white model option across all our key high-horsepower models including XTO425, F300, F250 and now F200, F150 and F115, allowing owners of fibreglass, painted and wrapped aluminium hulls to match their engine colour to their boat finish,’ Grant said. Hot on the heels of the recent V6 Offshore release, Yamaha is also launching their newly upgraded VMAX SHO (Super High Output) 4.2L V6 range, which comes in 200, 225 and 250 horsepower options. VMAX SHO’s have been engineered specifically to deliver an exceptional hole-shot and acceleration, with an equally impressive top-end speed. Originally created for the US tournament bass boat market, these premium outboards are also well suited to a wide range of high-octane boating activities including water-skiing, racing, competitive fishing and other water sports. Our new V6 VMAX SHO outboards not only look great with their aggressive styling upgrades, redesigned cowling and eye-catching raised graphics, these high-performance engines also incorporate some great new features including Yamaha’s TotalTiltTM trim system, as seen on our recently launched V6 Offshore range. We have also increased the alternator output by a massive 40%, now producing 70 charging amps, enough to power an extensive range of electronic devices, Grant said. The pearlescent white F115, F150 and F200 models are expected to hit Australian shores in the coming weeks, while the VMAX SHO is expected in July. With current demand for outboards at record levels, contact your local authorised Yamaha dealer today to ensure you lock in your order.
