25.01.2022 Nice day in the ocean today no big sharks for us... so we will settle with this nice gummy shark while we waited.... until next time.

25.01.2022 What a great couple days of fishing going 3.3.1 on the mighty swordfish off Lakes with Pauly, Dougie Bauer and myself. First drop in the the morning we hooked a...n absolute donkey literally the rod tip was in the water and broke the rod rigger in half. This big girl raced up to the surface and we had a visual on a really solid fish. Once coming up literally did a 400m run back down to the bottom. We worked her up again slowly then after 1hr we pulled hooks. We were lucky enough to get another shot and this time the hooks stuck and we had a lovely fish boat side thank God!!!! The second day we had another shot with the fish screaming to the surface and after 15min we pulled hooks absolutely gutted but that's why we keep coming back. See more

13.01.2022 Tamboon inlet trip 2021: A great trip with a rough start with the lockdown, we lost a few days fishing but still had a great time sinking a shitload of cans. Fi...shing was fairly consistent with most fish taking 5inch paddle tails. Flathead biggest went 72cm then a 70cm a 69cm and 65cm with a few more over 60cm *all Dusky flathead over 55cm were released* the average size around 50cm. Bream plenty over 40cm as by catch aswell as a heap of tailor around the entrance causing mayhem night fishing for large duskys. Prawns around the first few night although only really bait size. Till next time Tamboon inlet it’s been a pleasure See more

12.01.2022 The Big T from last week reports Went for a fish down to Portland with good mates Mike and Glenn on Wednesday, weather was good. Started off looking for a few school fish finding them after a call from Red-eye west of Laurence rock in 50 meter of water. Any amount of tuna, we kept our bag for a feed. Releasing just as many. After that it was a quick dash down to Cape Bridgewater to try for Barry the Barrel , no luck for us. There was a nice barrel caught that day 115 kg gutted . The tuna we caught were on small Pakula skirts, Nomad diver and a couple on stick baits. #fishingonlineau #spotonfishing01

09.01.2022 Another great report from Richard Marlin Magic Our trip started Thursday night leaving home just after midnight and arriving at the boat ramp at Eden around 8am... Friday Morning. Heading out in what I could only describe as ordinary conditions, 2m swell and chop going in all directions, we punched out about 33kms to the Eden Fad and found some bait, although the slimies were a bit smaller than what we wanted they would have to do. Trolled livies all morning and just after lunch we were rewarded with a nice little Stripy around the 70-80kg mark, put up a good little fight, whacked a tag in it and let her go, unbelievable colours, it really lit up for us. That night we caught up with the other club members, had a big cook up on the bbq, listened to Baz belt out his favourite tunes Side by Side obviously his favourite, and jokes then hit the sack. Up again Saturday morning with sea conditions seeming worse, but once out wide it wasn’t to bad. Went a bit further north from the Eden fad about 5kms, picked up some bigger slimies and again we were rewarded with a nice Stripy around the 110kg mark, tagged and released. It was supposed to be Shazz’s turn but she was too slow out of the cabin so I took over. This fish put on a great show for us early, jumping several times. That was it for the day, back to the caravan park where we all caught up for afternoon drinks and headed off to the pub for dinner. With all the talk on the radio during the day, Bermi sounded a better option, so we all got up and were on the road at 4am Sunday heading north. Well Bermi didn’t let us down. Sea conditions were heaps better, Loc and Shaz were able to leave the confines of their respected cabins to have a fish and we were rewarded again with two Striped Marlin for our efforts, both around the 110-120kg mark. Not so much joy on the other boats with both Denis and Baz dropping fish. Great test for our new tinnie, she performed well and managed to attract 4 Marlin to the boat. She’s obviously a Marlin magnet. In the average sea conditions at Eden we managed to cover 156km and we used 138lts of fuel, pretty happy with those figures for the new Honda 250hp. A couple of learnings from the weekend. The Poacher Baz, loves to belt out tune after a couple drinks, his favourite being Side by Side. After tagging our second Marlin we thought we would let Baz The Poacher know where we were, didn’t have too, as soon as we released the marlin, we looked up and out of the blue, there he was, Side by Side with us. Keep an eye out for saboteurs within the club. After releasing our second Marlin I was threatened with all sorts of dire warnings, drilling holes in our hull and fuel tank. Lucky we bought the unsinkable Stabi. The saying rings true, Find the bait, stay with the bait. Once we found some good bait we just stayed with it, trolling livies around we ended up going 4-4-4 on Striped Marlin. I would take that any day. All in all, a great weekend away with the club, lots of laughs and fish (well for us anyway) and I cant wait to go up and have another crack. Cheers rich

09.01.2022 Headed down to PPB to do some bait collecting, the lava glow and white glow squid snatcher did the job yet again!!

07.01.2022 There have been some really interesting captures of big SBT in Bass Strait over the last week which is exciting to see. Here is a track from a 188cm (estimated ...at 130kg) SBT we tagged off Eaglehawk Neck in May 2013 that spent a bit of time in Bass Strait cruising between the north coast of tassie and Vic before the tag detached in late June in the Bass Canyon. Keep in mind these tracks are best estimates of location from a complex model, the orange shapes show the potential error at each point in time. So no, the fish did not swim over Flinders Island. #fishing #tagging #tuna #bluefin #fishswimintheocean

06.01.2022 Cape Conran might be one of the more stunning spots to get out on the water, but we know it’s a ramp that could do with a few improvements. That’s why we’re hol...ding a drop-in session on Saturday 1 May to present options to improve this popular ramp. We’ll be at the Marlo CFA station between 10am and 12pm on Saturday, May 1 to answer questions on the concept design that will be available. We’ll walk local users and stakeholders through what we’ve identified in surveys, the features of the concept design and what the next steps are toward improving conditions. The option identified will help combat sand and seagrass build up, increase capacity at the jetty, and make it easier to launch and retrieve there. We’ll also have the plans online following the session so if you can’t make it, you can still have your say. Parks Victoria
