25.01.2022 Heading home tonight, no fishing, had housework to do. Get a call from Matt, low on fuel so I said.. ok I will grab you some 2 stroke and bring it out. Can’t stop someone fishing. I get to the marina and Chewy is cruising past, half full of water and hooks a trevally. He offers to help and we go toss some fuel to Matt. He had a nice coral trout on board but won’t trade it for the fuel. what happened to island barter?? I give him the fuel and we have a quick troll. Of course we took our rods and my qantas lures . 5 fish on 4 drops and I go home to see if I’m in trouble. Thanks for the help chewy and I think you got your reward.

23.01.2022 ANZAC DAY MAGNETIC ISLAND. So very different to how we normally honour those who fought for our freedoms, but still so moving. Thank you to everyone who worked in filming and editing this very moving video and making the day a social distancing success. And thank you to everyone who came out to light up Magnetic Island and show respect to our ANZACS and Defence Force personnel past and present.

20.01.2022 Another hard evening after work. 2 hours of this and life is good. Need a bigger net for the trevally, the others in the school follow even though it took 25 minutes on the light rod to land. How cool is that. Even the eagles were excited. 7 fish in short time, yes all on my lure

19.01.2022 Why did Brad Starr sprint across our back area at light speed? Tell you tomorrow

19.01.2022 I promised I would tell you what happened, so now I will. The scene, a manual car, dirty, needs a bit of a hose, the windows are down. You the car cleaner ( no name supplied) think you might put the windows up so you turn the key to accessories. Oops you’ve clicked one too many times and it’s in gear. It starts and goes the driverless car, to hit one of our other cars. Never fear, Brad Starr is here. Now I’m sitting in the red rav cleaning, and haven’t even reacted yet. All this is over before I even get out and meander up to have a look. Now in reverse Brad you running style looks even more special, watch on. I think the Olympics might be waiting, thank you for securing the situation and turning off the car. Nobody was harmed in this video but a passing Skink got the fright of his life .

18.01.2022 Sunday afternoon storms, will they hit or will they miss again

18.01.2022 Hi all. As you know we are always moving forward and looking at ways to make the business the very best it can be. We have also had some changes to the shop, to our offers and to our name. Our new branding, which is a process that has been in the works for a while now, is MAGNETIC ADVENTURE & HIRE. We believe this embodies our offer, our vision and our future. We are feeling excited with these changes and hope you like the new direction. There are some changes to the trading hours as well, so keep an eye on these. As always we thank you all for your continued support.

17.01.2022 A big thank you to Magnetic Island Rotary for holding their first Sausage Sizzle for 2020 at Magnetic Adventure & Hire. President Paul, Sharon and Zoë did a fabulous job cooking up a storm. So many people commented on how it felt like we were getting back to some level of normalcy. We look forward to having another one soon!

17.01.2022 Can islanders and tourists PLEASE stay back from our wild koalas - especially mums and their joeys The koalas are facing lots of stresses at the moment 1. It’s ...really dry so food is not as nutritious so mums struggle to feed both themselves and their joeys at this time of year 2. It’s breeding season and the males are not particularly good at understanding that no means no from the girls - they will chase a mum with a back rider and then mum and baby get separated. If too small the baby needs to be reunited with mum or needs full time care - but only if found in time 3. Lots of people and traffic on the island - please SLOW down we have lost two mumma koalas in the past 3 weeks 4. Too many selfies Yes they are cute BUT please don’t get up close - I need people to understand the consequences of getting too close and crowding them in the wild An abandoned Joey can take up to 12 months of hand rearing with NO guarantee of survival Use your zooms people! Tour guides - please please understand the effects that taking multiple visitors to one koala and in particular a mum and Joey is having. The koala hospital can do so much but we desperately need islanders and tourists help keep our numbers down - Koalas should be able to live here in peace

16.01.2022 Thanks all for your support during my head op. I need to answer some questions. Yes they found a brain It was a nice brain quite large really. Yes I’m having a day or 3 off ... Seriously thanks for caring, all growth removed and I have a new eardrum. see you all at Christmas and remember I will be able to hear you again so no insults. See more

15.01.2022 What a wonderful winters day on the island today. Many people went fishing, I did a little bit of moving around the island capturing Maggie’s beauty on my trusty drone, showing how magnificent our island really is. One weird thing happened this afternoon so I’ve chucked it at the end, like a blooper. It was the only time I got wet. Otherwise the day was perfect.

05.01.2022 This is a bit tedious for the people that don’t like fishing, but I’m intrigued I hooked this up this morning, moved a bit like a flattie but pretty sure it wasn’t. Would appreciate your thoughts, was still pulling drag near the surface in the harbour

03.01.2022 The boys have been working really hard reclaiming the sand that was pushed out during our big floods and tides this year. Bringing the sand back to the foreshore is crucial , before we have any more wild weather erosion. After delivering some diesel I thought I’d have a bit of a look and see how it looks from the air so I sent Jedi up. Enjoy

02.01.2022 Okay I need to know, whose is bigger ?
