18.01.2022 TRAWLER REMOVAL AND ROAD CLOSURE Transport for NSW is managing the removal of an 18 metre grounded fishing boat on Haywards Beach near Bermagui. Boaters and the... community must stay at least 30 metres away from the boat to allow the contractors clear access to the boat and any debris. The boat is starting to deteriorate and may break apart, particularly if swells increase and during storms and severe weather. Some larger items such as the fuel tank, foam insulation, timber, floats and other fishing equipment are washing up along the beach. Transport for NSW requests that the general public do not pick up the debris. It will be collected by the relevant authorities and contractors and disposed of correctly. The clean-up work has commenced and Tilba Road will close from 10.00am today (Wednesday) to enable the boat to be safely removed. The closure is expected to remain in place through until Saturday. Pedestrians and beach goers are asked for their patience and cooperation while the removal is occurring.

04.01.2022 Emergency services have responded to a fishing trawler that has run aground on Bermagui Beach at Camel Rock this morning. All crew on board are reported to be ok. Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force officers, Surf Life Saving NSW, NSW Maritime and the NSW SES are on scene.
