20.01.2022 Twelve Days of Christmas - Essential Oils Style Sixth Day of Christmas. Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) I chose Myrrh essential oil, being a Christmas oil. It is a w...ell known that along with frankincense and gold, myrrh was one of the gifts given to the Christ child by the wise men. It has also been used for thousands of years in traditional healing therapies and religious ceremonies by the ancient Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Persians, Indians and Chinese. 16.01.2022 What does it all mean? I used to think that 'natural' was what you were getting when it was on the label. I am now wiser. Read my article in the June/July Connect magazine about the quality of essential oils that you may be using. There are some surprises.
16.01.2022 The new Connect Magazine will be hitting all the usual outlets now. For this edition, I have written about Myrrh essential oil.
14.01.2022 Patchouli oil was the perfume that pretended it wasn’t during the 1960's hippy era. Unlike the high class and expensive perfumes that were made from a long list of ingredients, this was a natural product, which meant untampered with by humans and therefore authentic, straight from the earth. Patchouli, as an au naturel scent, was part of the hippy reaction against the sanitised landscape of America, with its olfactorily sterile towns and fitted kitchens. This reaction to our 'plastic' laden landscape is not so different from today's resurgence of interest in pure essential oils.
13.01.2022 My celebration of International Essential Oils Day, has been full of quiet contemplation. Mother Nature's gifts will always be a part of my daily life. Not only have they touched and changed the lives of so many, they are part of the inspiration to look for a better way for our planet.
12.01.2022 When I travel, I like to be prepared. This time, my trip will probably require a lot of my essential oils. My aged mother has just been released from hospital. If I didn't travel to care for her and help her rebuild her strength, it would be a nursing home for her. I'm beginning to understand how vital top quality essential oils can be when caring for the aged.

05.01.2022 "When I smell cardamom I feel transported to a place between heaven and earth where my feet touch the earth gently and my mind feels clear and light. It ignites a feeling of attraction, compassion, and kindness. There is a natural warming love which emanates from the self within and gently spreads its wings out to others. The way the cardamom pods grow close to the ground yet remain above it reminds me of being rooted yet not so securely that movement is not possible. The imagery also speaks to me of walking firmly yet gently and lightly upon the earth." Jade Shutes
