24.01.2022 The 2nd IFA Athlete's Forum kicks off in just under 90 minutes! The event kicks off with the 2020 IFA award presentation, so tune in to see if the Aussies win the IFA Media Award for The Fist, The Whole Fist And Nothing But The Fist, So Help Me Pod - The Official Fistball Australia Podcast! The forum will be live streamed on www.fistball.tv and the IFA - International Fistball Association Facebook page. The forum will be very interactive, and viewers will have the opportunity... to ask their questions. The main topic will be Women in Fistball and the forum will be covered on www.fistball.tv, as well as the IFA social media channels. The main question of this year's forum is how can the IFA make Fistball more attractive especially for girls/women. IFA Secretary General Christoph Oberlehner will present a short comparison between women's and men's world championships as a fact check. In addition, athletes Celina Traxler, Tanja Bognar, Eric Kindler, Karin Kempinger, Hinrike Seitz or Nick Trinemeier, among others, will give a speech. Should be a highly informative event, and hopefully an award-winning one for us! Fist on!

24.01.2022 SEASON 2020/21 STANDINGS After a long period of uncertainty in Victoria regarding lockdown restrictions, the VFL were thrilled to be able to get our current season up and running and managed to squeeze 2 rounds in before we take a break for the xmas period. The first 2 rounds saw somewhat a changing of the guard in Australian Fistball, with majority of players being either new to the game or in their 2nd season. These new players have bought an injection of enthusiasm a...nd much needed youth to our great game. With our valued long time fisters mixed in, the first two rounds have been enjoyable for all involved with some excellent Fistball being played. We look forward to the rest of the season, seeing the regular and new faces, which will start back on 30th of January. Below are the ladders from the 2nd round of the season, with Fist Club Melbourne taking out the day in a tight tussle, and the overall season ladder so far. Have a relaxing and enjoyable Xmas break everyone and we will see you in the New Year See more

24.01.2022 2020/2021 SEASON ROUND 4 20th of Feb saw us undertake round 4 of the season at Richmond. After a snap lockdown in Victoria leading into this tournament, we were unsure if we would be able to play this round, however, lady luck smiled upon us and the lockdown was removed and we could enjoy some Fisting Due to the uncertainty of the day, we only managed to have 4 teams battle out the days play, with each game being best of 3 sets.... Renegades had some new players for the tournament and really took it up to each team this round, with every set being close encounters. We also saw the return of one of our foundation and much loved players, Jason Beelders. Ironically, his return would not be with his beloved South Melbourne Fistball Club though, filling in for the merger West City. Most games went the full 3 sets, some excellent Fistball was played and the social side of our game was the real highlight. Fist Club did manage to scrape another tournament win, going through undefeated after some tense 3 set matches. Some action from the day, the round ladder, along with the season's ladder are attached below

22.01.2022 Not just the most-listened-to fistball podcast in the Southern Hemisphere... we now have the most-awarded fistball podcast in the Southern Hemisphere as well! Thanks to the IFA - International Fistball Association for the recognition, and congrats to all the other nominees and winners. The award (and Super Mario's acceptance speech) can be seen in the video below from around the @7:29 mark.... Unfortunately the rest of the IFA Athletes' Forum had to be postponed due to technical difficulties, new date TBD. Fist on!

19.01.2022 Episode #15 - "Surely He's Not Danish? He IS Danish, And Don't Call Him Thore-ly" Well first we should probably address the title of this episode - is it so terrible that it's actually great? Or is it just terrible? Does our audience even understand the reference? Who knows, but it's out there now and we can't take it back... so we'll just have to own it. But onto the episode itself. For this episode Malcolm 'Mister Fister' Donnellon is back in the co-hosting chair, and this... time he and usual host Chris 'Super Mario' Milne are joined by new age Danish Fistball Royalty... as they welcome onto the podcast Danish national team player and one of the driving forces of the reinvigorated Team Nordschleswig - Æ Mannschaft / Team Denmark - Faustball fistball scene - Thore Naujeck! In this episode the boys talk about the rise and fall and rise and fall and rise of fistball in Denmark, the availability of international ciders in Australia and the lineage of European royal families. They also casually touch on the epic first fistball match meeting between Australia and Denmark at the 2019 Men's Fistball World Championships It should also be noted that this is the second attempt at episode #15 - the previous attempt was one week prior with former Australian Men's National Team Coach Laurence Young. Unfortunately audio issues scuttled that entire recording, and it had to be scrapped. Another time perhaps. The Podcast can be found at all podcast locations, but in particular: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/18u3LchTMTQPu76DiKsBKH Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/.../fist-whole.../id1528574073 And Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts As always, a huge thank you to Rafael Dobler for the theme music to this podcast series. Fist on! Recorded on Sunday, 28th of March, 2021.

14.01.2022 What a treat it is to be nominated for the 2020 IFA Media award for our podcast! We will be going up against nominees from Germany and Austria for the prestigious award, essentially continuing the trend of the 'Big 3' of international fistball, both in fistball media and on the fistball field. The awards will be announced as part of the IFA Athletes´ Forum on Saturday 9 January, and we've been informed that Super Mario and Mister Fister will be dressed to the nines in antici...pation of delivering a long and seemingly endless acceptance speech. A sincere thanks to the IFA - International Fistball Association for the nomination. :) Fist on!

12.01.2022 With December 31st, 2020 ticking along towards midnight... we, as the Fistball Federation of Australia, truly hope everyone can put the year that was 2020 behind them and move forward with joy into 2021. (Unless you somehow had a great 2020 of course, against all odds, in which case celebrate it as we tick over into the new year.) We have some big plans for the next 12 months and we hope that you can fist on with us in 2021 and beyond.... Assuming no major hiccups in the coming months, the VFL will recommence at the end of January and will coincide with the KK/AO Medal Night to finally honour 2 seasons worth of VFL award winners plus our 2019 National Team awards. We have some new FiFA merch in the works, so hang tight for those. We also have plans to grow the sport and get the youth involved. There will be whispers about potential national team play, which we hope to turn into reality. And of course, the podcast will keep rolling on. Membership for 2021 will roll out in early January, so please sign up again (or for the first time) to help keep us financially functioning. :) And of course, may all your hopes, plans and dreams come to fruition next year, both on the fistball field and off. Fist on! p.s. apologies to Alex (Rage) and Gracelin for turning them into a 2020 meme...

12.01.2022 It is with great sadness today that we learned of the passing of Roman Gulczyski. We had the great pleasure of meeting and competing against Roman at the 2019 Fistball World Championships in Switzerland. Roman was an incredibly friendly and welcoming person, sharing many gifts with us from his native Poland and his positive attitude will always be remembered. Fistball Federation of Australia would like pass on our deepest sympathies to Polskie Stowarzyszenie Fistballu and to all of Roman’s family and friends. Rest In Peace brother.

12.01.2022 2020/2021 SEASON ROUND 5 Round 5 saw the VFL roll down the highway to play at our Fistball home East Belmont Saints Baseball Club for the final time this season. Being the 2nd last round, the pointy end of the season always turns eyes to the season table to see what mathematical possibilities still exist for teams. In the fight for the Roger Willen Shield Fist Club Melbourne and Fist Club Geelong were only separated by 5 points ensuring an internal battle. In the race for... the Karl Weiss Shield, Bay City also held a 5 point lead over Renegades Of Fist and 8 point lead over Westside Wombats Fistball Club. Although competition was heating up in the race for titles, the weather was cooling down and we were in a race to get the days play in before the rain came. 5 teams battled out a great days of Fisting. DimieStorm, Das Fist and Westside merged and Renegades, Bay City, Fist Club Melbourne and Fist Club Geelong rounded out the 5 competing teams. Matches today saw best out of 3 sets and most games took the 3rd set to determine the winner. However, Fist Club Melbourne pipped Bay City Fisters in a 'final' to take out the day, remaining undefeated. These results put both of those teams in commanding positions going in to the final round of the season. Fist Club Melbourne will also take the added pressure into the final round of trying to maintain their undefeated season so far. We look forward to seeing how the season unfolds in Round 6

08.01.2022 Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Fistmas! With Fistmas descending quickly upon us and the soul-suck that was 2020 finally coming to an end, we've decided to release one more podcast episode for the year while the fistive spirit is still alive and well! With Malcolm otherwise occupied (we assume he was putting together wooden toys on the assembly line while trying to avoid the whip), we've brought back FiFA President Rolf 'The Godfather Christmas' Petersen to team up with the returning Chris... 'Santa Mario' Milne, and this time we've even reached out across the ditch and invited our first Kiwi to come onto the podcast - the illustriously young and spritely Liz Meecham! In this momentarily Christmas-themed episode, Liz, Milne and Rolf discuss and reflect on the growth of the New Zealand Fistball Association, Liz's fistball career highlights so far, and detail her unflappable confidence and unwavering passion behind the microphone as she pushes forward her application to lead the IFA - International Fistball Association commentary team in perpetuity. She then answers some tough yet eerily-specific listener questions, including her toughest leg-wrestling opponent yet, her push for leg-wrestling IOC recognition, and what exactly this leg-wrestling thing is that we keep talking about. We also take some time to reflect on all the great Australian celebrities that New Zealand has helped us to produce over the years. And as always, some very merry shout outs to those who have been good this year, before signing off the year by spinning the incredibly appropriately-named single ("2020 - Kill It With Fire") released by one of the hottest rising stars in the South African disco-punk-wave movement - Cape Town's own Soul Hoover... which may or may not feature Fistball Association of South Africa President (and brother of The Godfister) - Leif 'Dr. Strangeglove' Petersen shredding on the axe like a modern-day Nile Rodgers. 02.01.2022 It's been exactly 7 years since we released this epic, badass and totally intimidating player introduction for our impending international fistball debut at the 2014 Asian Fistball Championships in Lahore, Pakistan. They say the international fistball community is still yet to recover from the collective awe experienced upon witnessing this incredible presentation, with rumours persisting that there was an unusually high number of future fistball superstars born 9-10 months l...ater across this fine globe. The Inaugural Australian National Team Presentation Video, as mentioned on Episode #12 of the Fistball Australia Podcast - "A Live Podcast Adaptation of "Fistrot Flats - The Dog's Tale"". Fist on!

01.01.2022 Happy New Year Fisters! Or at least, that would've been a more timely opening line if we released this episode soon after we recorded it on January 2nd. We blame the post-New Year slowdown for the delayed release, but here we are! To ring in the year with the first episode of 2021, Chris and Mal decided to bring German (and honorary Australian) Bianca Kruck onto the podcast to talk about her time coaching the Possums, being part of the coaching team for the Wombats, and of co...urse her experience with life coaching the young children of FiFA President Rolf 'The Godfister' Petersen. She also talks about her history in the sport, and her highlights so far. Of course the conversation veers off in several directions, including a spontaneous state-by-state discussion of the future of youth fistball in Australia, Bianca discussing her unwavering love of her given fistball nickname, and a nostalgic yarn by Mal of the time he couldn't seem to escape the cyclical lures of Amsterdam. And of course there are the customary shout outs... including one in real time? The Podcast can be found at all podcast locations, but in particular: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/18u3LchTMTQPu76DiKsBKH Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/.../fist-whole.../id1528574073 And Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts As always, a huge thank you to Rafael Dobler for the theme music to this podcast series.
