11.01.2022 There are many different ways to provide stimulation to a person living with dementia. It can range from magnifying their strength to helping them to get creative. We may think that people living with dementia have lost most of their talents. The fact is that they still have many hidden or lost talents waiting for us to help them uncover. After facilitating the #cognitivestimulationtherapy session with a client, I got her to colour this image and she has completely surprised ...me yet again with her creativity, colour coordination and talent. She felt extremely accomplished when this master piece was completed. It’s about giving them what matters most to them. If you know seniors who can do with some help with stimulation, improved quality of life and to have a good dose of sense of accomplishment, please reach out [email protected] #fitmindsaustralia #dementiasupport #dementia #dementiacare #brainhealth #diversionaltherapy

08.01.2022 Extremely proud of a client with Frontotemporal dementia. He has been a keen participant of the #cognitivestimulationtherapy group session and it has been the highlight of his week so far. In this week's session, while the others were still thinking hard and working out their strategies to solve the puzzles, he solved the secret word puzzle in no time and mastered the complex memory training activity. Even after I took away the set of memory training cards, he was still able ...to recall the respective position of each card. As he continues to be so determined to do well and to live well, he has become an outstanding example for us all! #fitmindsaustralia #dementia #brainhealth #dementiasupport #diversionaltherapy

05.01.2022 The dementia journey..... A client's condition seemed to have progressed. She still lives alone and wasn't administering her daily medications. The doctor decided to prescribe an additional medication (which is a patch instead of tablet) for her. After using it for a few weeks, she developed red scaly rash on the different spots where the patches were put on. It was an allergic reaction to the adhesive on the patch. It has also affected her mood and overall well-being. She wa...s scratching, feeling uncomfortable and unhappy. She asked not to put on anymore patches on her. Her family decided to stop the patch because her well-being is more important. We decided to keep it simple and just continue with the tablet and the twice weekly #cognitivestimulationtherapy. She seems to have a new zest of life and was happy as she used to be. She was administering her medications again and remembering conversations. In many cases, even if the doctor prescribed additional medication, it's crucial that the family and the team that supports the person monitor the condition closely and assess. The person's well-being remains the top priority. For this client, it was a joy seeing her happy and content again. #fitmindsaustralia #dementia #dementiasupport #diversionaltherapy
