05.01.2022 Meet Bec, a VFLW player who strength trains at the Harold Holt Swim Centre 2-3 times a week. We pity her opponents on game day! 1. When did you start strength ...training and what inspired you to start? I started formally strength training when I began to take my football more seriously and recognised that it was an important part of my physical well being and development. Being pushed off the ball didnt sit well with me in games and I used that as motivation to get me into the gym. Aside from it being highly beneficial for my physical performance, it also works as fantastic injury prevention and prehabilitation whilst building power and strength. 2. How often do you train? In the gym I train between two and three times a week and take the time to use the fantastic facilities at Harold Holt and do my leg resistance training in the pool and on the bike. 3. What do you like about the Health Club at Harold Holt Swim Centre?: Ive been using the facilities at Harold Holt since I was a young child participating in swimming lessons learning how to swim. The water is a place for me to de-stress at the end of my day and get some good exercise in. The pool is a great atmosphere and the reason why I am a member. Over the last twelve months there has been a need for me to build my strength and get into the gym on a more regular occasion. The staff in the Health Club make this easy to do so. Its fantastic and all the local members who get down as much as me are equally as friendly. Its a great environment for any person of any age. #thisgirlcanvic
